Which is better, CSE at ISM or Electrical at IIT Bhu?

I am a student of Electrical Engineering at IIT BHU. Even though CSE is the most popular branch in today’s job market, I would recommend you go with the second option. Here are the reasons that make IIT BHU a better choice than IIT(ISM) Dhanbad:

IIT BHU was established in 1919, while IIT Dhanbad was established in 1926. This gives IIT BHU an edge in terms of experience and legacy.

IIT BHU offers a wider range of engineering disciplines. Even IIT Dhanbad does so, but it is mainly known for its contribution in the field of mining and earth sciences.

IIT BHU ranks comparatively better in various national rankings.

IIT BHU has a large and diverse alumni base across various industries. Here are some reputed alumni from our institute-

IIT BHU, as well as IIT/ISM Dhanbad both, are the old institutes that were recently converted to IITs. So both have a prestigious status through IIT BHU performed better than the ISM in the 2020 NIRF Rankings- IIT BHU(11), and ISM(12).

Talking about the branch, Electrical at IIT BHU includes only the core electrical subjects. Moreover, there are very few companies visiting for core electrical students. Although, the students can sit for IT companies during the placement drive. According to 2019 placement highlights, a total of 88 students got placed from the Electrical Engineering at IIT BHU. The salary package ranged between 10 LPA to 58.21 LPA.

On the other hand, CSE offers many job options and more scope than electrical since every other field is getting blended with the CSE nowadays. And, ISM holds decent placement records for the CSE branch. The placement highlights of 2019 show there was a 90.23% placement from CSE and the average CTC offered was 39.5 LPA.
