For my B.Tech in Textile Technology at IIT Delhi, the total fee is approximately 13-14 lakhs over four years. The tuition fee for general category students is about 1,00,000 per semester, which adds up quickly. While the fees are high, many students do receive scholarships that can ease the burden. I'm still exploring my options since I'm only in my first year, but there are definitely ways to manage the costs.
For each semester, the fees are as follows:
So, for 4 years: Rs 135,000 8 = Rs 1,080,000.
This is applicable for general category students and those with a family income above Rs 8 lakhs a year.
If you belong to the SC/ST category, the tuition fees are completely waived off. Additionally, students from economically weaker sections can avail of various fee concessions.
With the right income level, you might end up paying very little or even nothing for the entire 4 years at IIT!
I hope this helps! Thank you!
Currently, if you gain admission to IIT Delhi through the general category, you will need to pay around 2 lakhs, excluding mess and hostel charges.
Hostel and mess fees are approximately 70,000 to 80,000 per year.
So, the breakdown is as follows:
If your parent's income is below 6 lakhs, you may qualify for MCM (Merit-cum-Means) assistance. To maintain this, you need to keep a good CGPA, have no backlogs, and participate in extracurricular activities. Additionally, you should not have any disciplinary actions against you in college.
For SC/ST/Physically Handicapped students, the entire academic fee is waived. Various scholarships are also available based on academic performance.
Tuition fees = 1 lakh/semester
Mess and accommodation = around 32,000/semester
For B.Tech students, there are 8 semesters (2 semesters per year for 4 years).
So, total fees = 1,32,000 8 = INR 10,56,000
For M.Tech (dual degree) students, there are 10 semesters (an extra year).
So, total fees = 1,32,000 10 = INR 13,20,000
If you belong to the SC/ST category or EWS, your entire tuition fees are waived off!
For B.Tech program students:
Total fees = 32,000 8 = INR 2,56,000
For dual degree students (B.Tech + M.Tech):
Total fees = 32,000 10 = INR 3,20,000
Scholarships are available based on your ranks!
If you maintain a good GPA, your fees may be waived off to some extent.
So, if you're eyeing the B.Tech in Textile Technology at IIT Delhi, be prepared for around 13-14 lakhs as the total fee for the 4-year program. The semester-wise tuition is roughly 1,00,000 for general category students. It's a hefty amount, especially if you don’t get a scholarship like I didn’t. But honestly, the faculty and placement opportunities are pretty great, so it might be worth the investment in the long run!
