Is it worth doing a B.Tech Engineering Physics from IIT Delhi or not? What are its placement records and whats your experience with this college so far?

From the second year onward, courses will include nanotechnology and thin films, as the experimental physics division at IIT Delhi is robust. The course structure spans the physics department, electrical department, and various interdisciplinary departments (though you will have some optional courses to choose based on your interests). Consider joining Engineering Physics at IITs if:

• You are genuinely interested in pursuing higher studies (in physics) like a Master's, PhD, or Postdoc (this degree is a great asset for you).
• You need an engineering degree (for the IIT tag and other government exams like UPSC or Banking, etc.).

Around 40–50 companies recruit engineering physics students, and most prioritize your coding skills over physics knowledge. You can learn coding, join clubs, engage in college politics, embellish your resume, and impress companies to get hired.

I did Engineering Physics from IITM. It wasn't my first choice, but I got it based on my JEE performance, accepted it, graduated successfully, and got placed.

• If you want to work in PSUs like ISRO, DRDO, or BARC: Even with a high GATE score, they typically require a BSc or MSc in physics. Since you have a BTech in Engineering Physics, your chances are slim.
• As a job seeker, you can only apply to companies that are open to any BTech graduates.

My serious advice for aspiring BTech students is: “Choose EP only if you want to keep physics in your life!”

For those struggling with EP, no regrets! Only about 1% of non-EP, non-CSE students are working in their core fields.
