Is it worth doing a B.Tech Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi or not? What are its placement records and whats your experience with this college so far?

So, I chose to pursue Civil Engineering at IIT Delhi because my family wanted me to, and honestly, it's been a good decision. The curriculum is rigorous, and while some exams are tough, it really prepares us for the industry. The placements are fantastic; around 1000 offers were made last year, and many top companies recruit here. I’ve learned about various industries through internships, which are available from any semester. Plus, the campus life is vibrant with fests like Rendezvous and Tryst. Overall, I’d say it’s worth it!

I got into IIT Delhi for Civil Engineering after scoring 98.35 in JEE Mains and 169 in the Advanced exam. It was a tough journey, but now I’m here and it's been worth every bit. The placement records are stellar, with many students getting offers from leading firms like Microsoft and consultancy giants. Last year, the highest package went up to 2.65 crore! The hostel life has its ups and downs, but the amenities and extracurricular activities make up for it. I’m excited about what the future holds, and I feel like I made the right choice.

• Research Opportunities: You’ll learn from top professors and gain essential skills while working with the most advanced laboratory equipment in the country. IIT Delhi is renowned for its robust research programs, and engaging in research projects will enhance your profile for higher studies.
• Interdisciplinary Opportunities: The IITD course structure allows you to explore beyond just Civil Engineering. You can take electives from other departments or pursue a Minor in fields like Computer Science or Economics. The workload in Civil Engineering is manageable, giving you plenty of time to delve into other interests.
• Entrepreneurship: Various clubs at IITD will help you develop vital leadership, communication, and management skills. For instance, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) supports startup initiatives. You can even secure funding for your ventures if you have a solid idea!

The first year is pretty chill. You'll feel like you're just soaking in the campus vibes—lots of fun and enjoyment!

The real challenge starts in the second year. Expect tons of lab work and a jam-packed schedule. While the courses might be manageable, the labs can be quite demanding. This is the feedback from students in the civil department. However, it’s not overwhelmingly hectic. There are more courses, but it's still manageable.

So, I’d say it’s a relatively chill department!
