What is the total approx fees of IIT Delhi for B.Tech Civil Engineering??

At IIT Delhi, the fees for the B.Tech Civil Engineering program are approximately 12-13 lakh for most students. I’m lucky because I’m from a reserved category, so my tuition is waived, and I only need to budget around 4-5 lakh for the entire course, mostly for hostel and food. It’s a great place with fantastic faculty and lots of opportunities for internships and placements!

For every semester, you can expect the following fees:

• Tuition Fees - Rs 1,00,000
• Mess and other fees - Rs 35,000

So, for 4 years, it totals to Rs 135,000 8 = Rs 1,080,000.
This is applicable for general category students and those with a family income above Rs 8 lakhs a year.

If you belong to the SC/ST category, the tuition fees are completely waived off! Additionally, if you come from a financially disadvantaged background, there are many privileges regarding fees.

With the right income level, you might end up paying very little, or even nothing, for the entire 4 years at IIT!

This was the Semester 1 breakdown of fees for UG Students who took admission in 2023–24: While this includes adjustments for JOSAA counseling fees and some one-time security deposits, it excludes mess charges. The breakdown for the second semester was as follows (General/OBC with Annual Family income > ? 5 Lakh):

• ? 1,05,750 for Tuition & Exams
• ? 26,800 for Mess
• ? 13,250 for Hostel accommodation

This totals to ? 1,45,800.

Here are some more details from the prospectus to clarify: The largest portion of the fees is, of course, the tuition fee (as shown above). (I’m not even sure what the Student Distress Fund Scheme is or that it exists!) Additionally, there are multiple scholarship opportunities available once you are at IIT Delhi, which deserves a separate discussion.
