If you're deciding between BIT Bangalore and BMSIT, BIT is definitely the better choice. I’m not just saying this because I go there, but if you check the placement stats from the past few years, you’ll notice a big difference. BIT's placement cell does a much better job compared to BMSIT.
As a current student at BIT Bangalore, I can share some insights into the pros and cons of attending BIT.
Why might you pick BIT? BIT is considered one of the top colleges under VTU University (specifically under VTU, not the autonomous ones). This means you'll likely be among a more competitive group of students than at BMSIT.
Located right in the middle of Bangalore, BIT offers easy access to key spots that students love, like restaurants, food streets, parks, markets, and the railway station.
The college is well-known for its teaching quality. The faculty here is excellent and supportive, assisting students with both academic and non-academic issues.
While the attendance requirement is 75%, there's some leeway if you maintain above 60%. Some branches are even more flexible with attendance rules.
Lastly, placements are a big plus. All branches boast strong placement records, outperforming other colleges under VTU. CSE and ISE branches have nearly 100% placement rates. Many top companies visit for recruitment and workshops.
However, there are some downsides to consider. The campus is quite small, with just four main buildings. One building houses most B.E. branches, M.Tech, and MBA programs, while another has the physics and chemistry labs. The remaining two are for the mechanical department. Essentially, there's just one seven-story building for most students.
There's no dedicated ground for sports, although students use a nearby college's field. Despite this, BIT has teams for various sports that practice regularly.
If you're entering through management quota, be aware that the initial fees at BIT are higher than at BMSIT.
I can't really think of any other major drawbacks to choosing BIT. Reflect on what matters most to you and then decide on your college. Good luck!
Choosing between BIT Bangalore and BMSIT comes down to what you prioritize. BMSIT has a decent fee structure, especially if you come through KCET, which is around 90,000 per year. The placements are quite good as well, with about 85% of students getting placed, and companies like Amazon and TCS visiting the campus. The faculty-student interaction is good, and they offer a blend of theoretical and practical learning, which is essential in today’s industry.
I would personally suggest BMSIT over BIT Bangalore based on the overall experience here. The college offers good opportunities in Computer Science and has a solid placement record, with many companies coming to recruit students. The average package is around 8 LPA, which is quite competitive.
However, I did notice that the curriculum could use some updates in certain areas to keep up with current industry trends. Still, the campus life is enjoyable, and the facilities provided are decent.
If I had to choose between BIT Bangalore and BMSIT, I would lean towards BMSIT for its strong placement track record, especially in Computer Science and Engineering. The highest package last year was around 46 LPA, and the average was about 8 LPA. The faculty is supportive, and the curriculum is regularly updated to meet industry standards.
The campus life is vibrant with events like Utsaha Vaibhava, which adds to the overall experience. Additionally, the proximity to the tech hub of Bangalore is a significant advantage for internships and job opportunities.
