How is BMS Institute of Technology and Management?

BMSIT for Computer Science and Engineering has a solid reputation, especially for placements. I chose this college because it offers a good blend of academic and extracurricular activities. The curriculum includes practical projects, which I really appreciate.

The college has a decent placement record, with companies like Infosys and TCS frequently hiring from here. My experience so far has been good, though the fees for management seats are quite high compared to KCET. Overall, I think BMSIT is a good option if you’re looking for opportunities in tech.

I picked BMS Institute of Technology and Management over other colleges for a few reasons:

• The placements here are impressive.
• The teachers are knowledgeable in their subjects.
• There are fewer students compared to other top colleges.
• It's close to where I live.

However, there are some downsides:

• The fees are pretty high.
• The lab facilities could be better.
• During placements, core branches don't get much focus.

The admission process is straightforward. You need to score well in Comedk and then go through the counseling process.

Campus life is fantastic with tons of opportunities. There are clubs for debates, technical stuff, fashion, dance, music, and more. The cultural fest, Moksha, is a big event with celebrities performing for a few days. There's also a sports fest that many colleges join. Starting in July, the placement season kicks off with lots of companies visiting. If you're good at coding, IT companies might offer you an average salary of 8-9 lakhs per year. Core branches struggle a bit and often look to non-tech companies. Around 200 companies come, including Bain and Company, Zs Associates, Hero, Anand Automotive, and McKinsey, and almost everyone who wants a job gets placed with an average salary of 6-7 lakhs per year.

One of the best things about the college is the seniors. They're super supportive and help more than you might expect, often more than your own classmates. They guide you from the start in both academics and smart studying techniques. The course curriculum is well-structured, allowing you to choose electives from other branches. Regular tests and exams help keep you focused and on track with your studies.

The Mechanical department at BMS Institute of Technology (BMSIT) is considered top-notch, with most professors having over a decade of teaching experience. Following closely are the Computer Science (CS), Electrical, and ECE departments, where the teaching is almost as good and the teachers are a bit more lenient. The IS and Telecom departments have average faculty, which generally keeps students content. The college encourages students to maintain over 85% attendance, but the minimum is 75%. Students rarely face detention unless there's an extreme situation. There are three internal exams worth 25 marks each, and they consider the best two scores.

When it comes to placements, the CS branch at BMSIT shines with an 80% placement rate, attracting major IT companies like Yahoo, Directi, and Cognizant. Core branches don't have as strong placements, with most students ending up in software roles. Recently, the college partnered with KPIT to improve core branch placements. The highest salary package can reach up to ?14 lakhs, with the average being around ?3.5 lakhs per year.

Classrooms at BMSIT are decent, but the labs are well-equipped and meet students' needs. The entire campus has Wi-Fi. Sports facilities include a versatile football court, and standout indoor basketball and badminton courts. Unfortunately, the gym is lacking. The canteen is affordable and serves good food, and there are many food options around the campus.

There are two on-campus hostels for boys, while the girls' hostel is off-campus, about 4 km away, with college-provided transportation. The hostel food is decent, and the hostels offer Wi-Fi. The campus life at BMSIT is enjoyable, with extra-curricular activities available through groups like NSS, the Melton Foundation, and the Google Student Group. The campus is diverse, with students from all over India. Alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited on campus.

While international exposure is limited, students from countries like Nepal, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and some African nations add to the cultural diversity. The Melton Foundation also provides opportunities for select students to study or intern abroad, bringing in global students as well.

I wouldn't recommend BMS Institute of Technology and Management. The teachers aren't very friendly or respectful, and they don't treat students well. The campus is pretty small and lacks extracurricular activities. If you're from North India, you might experience some bias.

The teaching quality isn't great, and the faculty can be quite mean to students. There are better options out there, so I wouldn't make the same mistake I did. It's not a good place to be.
