How are the hostels at IIST Trivandrum?

Rooms are really in good conditions. Rooms have to be shared among 2 or 3 students. Common washrooms are there but are cleaned daily. hostels are compulsory for btech students you can't rent outside. There is one common mess for everyone whichgives decent food for survival

Hostel facility is good and the warden in the hostel are there in the hostel for all 24 hours. The do there duty well . The hostel are very clean and the washrooms are cleaned daily . The staff is very helpful to the students.

From this year(2024) the two occupancy has been changed to 3. But still the rooms here are good, hostels provide us a study table, a cupboard and a wall attached cupboard to use. The meals are good compared to any other hostel's and everyday's breakfast contains bread and jam..

The IIST has room accomodation of three people for 1st year students. The rooms are very spacious and clean including 3 almirah, three cot, three table-chair for a room and also the tube-lights are in the room which are taken care by the hostel warden. The room has sufficient amount of electric sockets. You can also chanege your room, you just only have to write a mail to hostel warden and student well fare faculty. The meal at IIST is made by keeping in mind that both North and South Indians could eat it. The menu is repeated after every 2 weeks and some of the diahes are Butter Paneer, fried Chicken, Malai Kofta, Butter Chicken Masala, Maggie, Noodles, Pav-Bhaaji, Dosa, Manchurian, Curd, Milk, Tea- coffeee, Pulses like Arahar, Chole, Rajma and many other. The hostel is provided by the Institute itself with an affordable price of 15,000 per month. No, you can't rent a PG outside the campus as much as you are a B-tech student. I don't know about M-tech people but PHD people can rent a PG outside.

There are double and tripple sharing rooms. The rooms are provided with fan, Almirah, Bedside table, Study table with drawers, Chair, Rack etc. The food is good but it tastes same every day. You won't like the food after 2 months. Hostel rent is 6000 per year and Hostel Establishment Fee is 10000 per year. The college is fully residential and no one is allowed to stay outside the college.
