95 percentile in JEE Main = approx rank 45,000-55,000. NIT Calicut is one of the top-5 NITs in India, so this needs a realistic look:

for Kerala home state (HS) quota candidates: 95 percentile gives decent chances for civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering branches. CSE and ECE at NIT Calicut HS usually close much higher (~99+ percentile). so HS quota at 95 percentile gets you into the college but not the top branches.

for outside Kerala (OS quota) candidates: 95 percentile is generally not enough for NIT Calicut in any good branch. OS quota CSE closes around 99.5+ percentile, ECE around 98.5-99+. at 95 percentile OS, the chances of any branch at NIT Calicut are very slim.

what to do at 95 percentile:

  • check JoSAA predictor for exact closing ranks of the branch you want
  • for OS candidates, look at NIT Warangal (lower cutoff some branches), NIT Surathkal, MNIT Jaipur as comparable alternatives
  • apply to all rounds in JoSAA counseling — cutoffs drop round by round and late rounds sometimes open branches
  • 95 percentile is a good score overall — you can get strong NITs just not NIT Calicut's best branches OS
