What are the most important things that you have learned/experienced during your stay at NIT Silchar?
I have a friend who is an ex-student of NIT Silchar. He shared a number of things he experienced here and taught him to survive.
- The excellent institute is remotely located so there is minimal life outside the campus. This ensures a stronger bond between the peers and the adverse conditions make you a stronger person.
- Although less, you can still find traces of the gender divide in NIT Silchar.
- My friend was a victim of regionalism and so can you. So consider this once before joining.
- You will realize that talent and skills are much more than your rank and marks and this talent will determine your career.
- People who were earlier ecstatic about the NIT tag or those who wanted a better NIT will no longer have those emotions and realize that the institute doesn't matter much and the way you spend your 4 years is more important.
In all, the 4 years here will teach you a lot through diverse experiences and most likely shape you into a better person.
What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at MANIT Bhopal?
The most important tip is to join MANIT without any regrets of not making it to the top IITs. If you keep regretting your past, you won’t be able to enjoy all that MANIT has to offer.
Apart from that, here are some tips to survive at MANIT Bhopal-
- Do not depend upon your teachers. Make a proper study routine for yourself.
- Do not underestimate your professors, and maintain good relations with them. Doing so will benefit you in the future for your projects.
- Attend your classes regularly. Getting good grades during the first year is comparatively easier. These grades will improve your aggregate GPA.
- Work hard from the first year itself.
- Seniors are really helpful, so try to approach them and seek their guidance.
- Attend the workshops and events that are specially organized for freshers, but choose the good ones. You can consult your seniors regarding this.
- Join clubs and societies to enhance your personality, and develop some skills.
Use this time wisely, and also enjoy your stay at MANIT Bhopal.
Which is better for an MD in general medicine, KMC Manipal or Mangalore? I got allotted in KMC Mangalore. Should I need to upgrade?
My friend was an MBBS Student at KMC Mangalore, so here are some highlights of the institute
- The clinics are well-equipped and the patient lod is also decent.
- Enjoys a good reputation among the medical colleges in India.
- It’s bad one private hospital, KMC Attavar, and one Super specialty hospital, KMC Jyothi Circle
- The workload is a lot because the hospital is completely managed by residents and interns. You will be responsible for everything from OPD to file maintenance to rounds to sample collection.
- Students are required to be proficient in each case early in the morning as they will be enquired about every patient that they are allotted
- You have to update treatment and paperwork, attend class, and be ready to present short bedside cases.
- PG students have to attend a theory class in the morning and in the afternoon twice a week, there is short group teaching, with the presentation.
- Students need to learn basic Kannada without which you won’t be able to interact with patients.
- The hostel facilities are great and Mangalore is a city of students so it won’t be difficult to find good food at low prices, beaches, bars, clubs, malls, etc
- Mangalore is a port city so it's better connected than Manipal.
- There is a dual rating system wherein the professors rate the students, and students rate the professors. This helps the college to keep a check on the quality of education and improve energy year.
It will definitely be a great choice if you choose KMC Mangalore.
What are the best things for NIT Calicut students to do on weekends?
Here are some things you can do at NIT Calicut to make the most of your free time-
To keep yourself busy, you can join karate classes. This will keep you active. If you are into video games, you will always find others to join you. You can watch late night movies and tv series with friends. You will surely end up cooking some maggie in your kettle when late night hunger strikes. You can go cycling during the weekends, in the morning. But make sure to take proper care and use proper bicycles because the roads in Kattangal are very steep. Apart from all this, if you wish to explore a bit, you can visit IIM Kozhikode or Munnar/ Kochi.
All that I listed up till now are fun activities. But for a more productive weekend, you can read novels or take part in quizzes and prepare for those. You can also be a member of a club at NIT Calicut. By organizing club events, you can connect with various people and learn management skills.
If you are a CSE student, your workload will be quite less at NIT Calicut. Thus, you will get plenty of free time. You can use this leisure time by participating in extracurriculars, learning a new skill and making memories with your friends.
Can Girls apply for BBA course in Loyola College
Loyola College is an all-boys college when it comes to Under-Graduate programs. However, it is co-ed for all post-graduate programs and some undergraduate programs like - B.M.M (Animation), B.Voc, B.A., BBA, B.Sc.
But yes, girls can apply for BBA courses at Loyola College although Catholics are given more preference in this college.
What are the top colleges for CSE, including IITs, NITs, and IIITs?
In India, there are several institutes for technical education in different levels, from elite to below-average grade, which provides an excellent curriculum in several streams. For Computer Science and Engineering, institutes are divided into six major levels and are listed below.
- The best institutes in India for CSE are IISc, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Madras. These provide the best undergraduate engineering courses, and essentially the best jobs in the country.
- The next level contains the top NITs, along with some IITs, some excellent IIITs, and a few government institutes. The institutes in this level are NIT Surathkal, NIT Warangal, NIT Trichy, IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Allahabad, IIIT Delhi, IIIT Bangalore, BITS, and DTU.
- NIT Allahabad, NIT Calicut, NSIT, Jadavpur University, JMI, VJIT, COEP, IIT BHU, and VIT are also excellent institutes that provide excellent curriculum and placements for CSE.
- Next, there are the lower-graded NITs and IITs, and few other renowned institutes. Ex- NIT Bhopal, NIT Rourkela, NIT Durgapur, NIT Jaipur, NIT Nagpur, NIT Surat, IIT Dhanbad, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Gandhinagar, BIT Mesra, RVCE, PESIT, BMS, other NITs and IITs, etc.
- Then, there are some average state engineering colleges and decent-graded private engineering colleges, which are usually good in placement in CSE and IT branches.
- At last, there are several colleges and universities that provide some placement to CSE students. Ex- LPU, Amity, SRM, Sharda, MODY, Parul, Satyabhama, Acharya, etc.
These are some institutes for CSE which can be considered, depending upon the rank of the candidate and chosen based on preference.
How good is the MCA course at NIT, Surathkal?
The MCA program at NIT Surathkal is decent but I feel NIT Allahabad will offer a better course and opportunity. This is because, at MNIT Allahabad, most companies allow MCA students to sit for placements with CSE and IT students. One of my distant cousins pursuing an MCA from MNNIT Allahabad cleared Google Mt.View. Moreover, CSE, IT, and MCA share a common department here and the computer Club classes are also held for all CSE, IT, and MCA combined.
Whereas In NIT Surathkal, the MCA program is inclined more toward Application Development and thereby focuses more on the latest programming language and tools to develop better and faster applications. Its primary aim is to provide a modern, industry-oriented education in applied computer science.
In my opinion, you should choose MNNIT Allahabad for MCA as it has better placement opportunities.
How good is Vidyasagar University compared to Calcutta University??
Calcutta University offers some of the best education possible in the country. It consistently maintains an admirable ranking among the top universities in India.
- Your CV can get a big boost if you opt for the University of Calcutta.
- There are other institutes in Kolkata that are just as good as CU such as Presidency University, Jadavpur University St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous). Keep an eye on them as well and do not restrict yourself only to CU.
- Engage yourselves in the various activities that will take place wherever you end up getting admission.
- The more proactive you are, the more your resume will attract potential employers.
Vidyasagar University has more expertise in tribal culture and literature. It is not the focus of urban academics. Keep in mind that the marking scheme of the University of Calcutta is very rigid.
How is the girl’s hostel facility at the Central University of Punjab? What are the rules of the hostel?
Central University of Punjab has recently moved to a new permanent campus, which has cabins constructed at every free space possible, such as the sports hall and parking areas. Doctoral students are given a single-seated room (cabin) until the year 2016, while master's students are given a room on a sharing basis.
The rules for the hostel are relatively lenient now compared to the past. Girls are allowed to study in the library even after midnight, but they are not permitted to roam around the campus after dinner. There is no nightlife available on campus, but students can use the library or stay in their rooms to study. The hostels and campus offer Wi-Fi, RO water, and geysers. However, air conditioning or ducting in the rooms is not possible since the cabins are temporary, portable structures. During the summer, the temperature can reach up to 46 degrees Celsius, making the rooms feel like a furnace unless a cooler is used.
Overall, the facilities are good enough to survive, but they are not enough to have a great time. If you cannot compromise on hostel facilities, it is recommended that you look for another university since Bathinda is not a very developed or urbanized city, but more like a town.
