What are the profiles of the PGPEX students at IIM Calcutta who get more than Rs 50 LPA in campus placements? How can I build that profile?

DM
Deepak Mehta Posted On : November 28th, 2022
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta

IIM Calcutta does not release exact figures regarding its placement and more so for its Executive programs.

According to the in-depth study of last placement reports, the profile of PGPX students at IIM Calcutta should be:

  • Average work experience of around 8 years

  • Work experience from IT sector

  • Should have already been earning 30-40 LPA

This information is just based on assumptions and exceptions can take place.

Haya Zubair Posted On : November 2nd, 2022
Student at Indira Gandhi National Open university (IGNOU) (2019-present)

No, IGNOU is not accredited by NAAC. However, it’s accredited by UGC, which is the culminating body of all universities in India.

NAAC is an autonomous body established by the UGC of India to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country. NAAC is only for regular institutions, not for distance institutions.

Note that IGNOU is the best open university and its degree is valid everywhere.

AS
Anubhav Sengupta Posted On : June 23rd, 2021
B.Tech from Amrita University (2017)

I have a friend studying at this University for B.Tech program. So, I can give you authentic insights about the Bangalore and Coimbatore campus on the basis of his reviews. The university offers B.Tech in various specializations like CSE, EEE, ME, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering.

For admission to the B.Tech course, the fee structure depends upon the campus you choose. The details are below for the two main campuses, Coimbatore and Bangalore.

Fee (per year)

Coimbatore Campus

Bangalore Campus

Tuition Fee

INR 1,65,000

INR 1,42,000

Hostel Fee

INR 64,000

INR 64,000

Overall, the fees between the two campuses vary slightly, i.e., by INR 30,000 approximately. The fee increases every year and it might have changed from the above figures. There are two more campuses of the university, one in Chennai and another in Amritapuri.

Who do you think is the worst professor at IIT Gandhinagar? Why??

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : March 12th, 2021

There can’t be a single professor to blame but in general, the faculty of Electrical Engineering is not quite up to the mark.

Teaching:

  • Professors like Rajendran and Ravi Hegde are pretty much amateur at teaching.
  • Raghavan Sir's way of teaching is outdated. I heard from my friends that he does not complete 1/10th of the syllabus and his entire semester teaching can be summed up in just 5 pages.
  • Naran Sir skims through the slides and expects you to memorize the slides. He is also quite irregular in classes.
  • Professors like Nithin George and Uttama are decent in teaching but can’t match up to the IIT level.
  • The best one my friend experienced is Prof. Arup, who covers the syllabus beautifully and will make you understand the nuances of photonics. If you take up Research under him, it’ll be quite a good experience for you.

Most of the research work here isn’t single funded. They claim to conduct world-class research but don’t have a single journal paper for years. This is the reason why IIT Gandhinagar ranking had many pitfalls in previous years.

Which one to join, Bangalore Institute of Technology OR Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering?

AS
Avinash Sharma Posted On : March 18th, 2022
studied at Bangalore Institute of Technology

Bangalore Institute of Technology will be better in terms of placements. It doesn’t necessarily mean that DSCE offers bad placements, but it's not as good as BIT. According to the recent placement highlights, the average CTC for the institute is around INR 6-8 LPA

BIT Bangalore fees are also less compared to DSCE. A BE program from BIT costs around INR 2.35 lakhs. But DSCE offers a better campus life.

How can one score 9 CGPA in RGPV exams?

PM
Pramod Mehra Posted On : October 21st, 2022
Studies at Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (Graduated 2014)

Getting good marks is not a very difficult task in RGPV exams. If you want to score 9 CGPA in RGPV exams then follow these points:

  • Knowing your syllabus before the session starts is the basic step.

  • Categorize these subjects based on your capability. Find out your most favourite and least favourite subject.

  • There are 6 months approximately for each semester.

  • The key to good marks is to concentrate on the topic while you are attending the classes. This will save you from constant revision.

  • Don’t learn the entire chapters. Choose a maximum of 6 or minimum of 4 topics from each chapter. Focus on them only.

Learn only 1 topic from every subject in a day and you are likely to complete the course before the exams. This method will save you from going through the entire syllabus. You can easily score good marks without much pressure.

Which is better, Doon business school or UPES Dehradun for an MBA?

MS
Mohit Sharma Posted On : March 14th, 2023
MBA at UPES, Dehradun (2019)

When considering which school to choose, it's important to compare your options. When it comes to choosing between UPES and other schools, there really is no comparison. UPES is hands down the better option.

If you are looking for a school that provides better internships, certifications, and industry-recognized degrees, then you should definitely consider the College of Management & Economics Studies at UPES. Their MBAs are tailored to specific domains, so you'll be able to focus on what you're truly interested in.

UPES also boasts a placement rate of around 95%, which is a great indicator of the school's success in helping students land jobs after graduation. Students who are serious about their studies have landed positions at top companies like Crisil, KPMG, and Amazon, with salaries that often exceed those offered by IIMs.

While UPES may not be in the same league as top private schools, it is still a better option than schools like ICFAI or DBS. In terms of return on investment, most students will likely find that UPES is a better choice. If you have the funds and are able to clear the entrance procedures, then UPES should be your top choice.

Which college is better, TAPMI or IIM Sirmaur??

SM
Sandip Mukherjee Posted On : August 18th, 2022
Studied Finance & Marketing at Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode

Among these, TAPMI is the obvious choice. Compared to IIM Sirmaur, it is older and has a well-developed alumni base. The institute has a remarkable placement record. TAPMI placements 2022 shows the average package to be INR 12.6 LPA. While the highest CTC offered this year was INR 32.2 LPA. Capgemini, HCL, and Accenture are some of the major recruiters that took part in the placement drive.

Baby IIMs such as IIM Sirmaur fall behind in terms of academics, curriculum, and faculty.

What are the pros and cons of studying at Karunya University?

NS
Niharika Sen Posted On : September 21st, 2021
Studied at Karunya University (2019)

There are many pros and cons that Karunya University possesses. Since the faiths and beliefs of the university are based on Christianity, you will enjoy them if you are from the same background.

Pros

  • You will develop the skills that are necessary to sustain life and wholeheartedly follow them.
  • Placements are really good here. Top companies like Amazon, TCS, Zoho Corp, CTS, Accenture, etc. participate in their placement program.
  • The academics might not be the best like IITs or NITs, but it is good enough for learning.
  • Ragging is prohibited.
  • GATE Forum and Time take GATE, CAT and GRE classes.
  • Students are also provided transportation facilities.

Cons

  • Very strict rules and regulations are being followed by the university that might sometimes hamper the growth of the students and hinders them from developing certain skills.
  • Female students have to take permission to go out whenever and wherever.
  • Attending the morning assembly is compulsory for all students, which sometimes becomes hectic.

Thus we can conclude, though innumerable facilities are being provided to the students at the end, overuse of rules and regulations hampers the feeling of oneness among everyone, that can be considered as the biggest disadvantage of the university.

What is the typical working style of IIT Gandhinagar (IITGN) administration?

VT
Vishal Thakkar Posted On : March 16th, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (2014)

Well frankly speaking the academic environment of IITGN has already deteriorated to a large degree.

Just a few months ago, one of my friends said that the IITGN director has started a poll to re-evaluate the academic climate due to pressure. Such a poll is actually novel in an academic institute. Interestingly the poll is conducted by his hired persons. Consequently, the result was very clear that the intention is to show with fake results, compiled by his own people, that everything is great there.

The students of IITGN had to endure various struggles because of the director who resembles to be mentally unstable to many colleagues. What actually happens in IITGN is nothing less than a dictatorial regime, where you will observe that the ruler always tries to promote their betterment to the outside world by publishing pictures, fake polls, and surveys, twisted or fabricated news items that people are so happy and loyal under their rule.

Whereas in reality, the only notion on people’s minds is absolute fear and hatred for the ruler. Remember some of the widely circulated pictures of Hitler hugging little kids, or of a smiling Kim Jong-Un being embraced by female fans. IIT Gandhinagar's administration style is pretty similar to that.
