Is it worth taking a loan of around 6-7 lakhs for IIFM, Bhopal Forestry Management Course (Wildlife)? Isn't it a burden with a salary just being around 5-6 LPA?

SD
Shreyashi Das Posted On : May 13th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Forest Management (2019)

IIFM Bhopal is a sectorial institute that can provide you with a great number of opportunities. To name certain fields- Development, MNC, Wildlife, Microfinance, Banks, Forestry. You can choose any one of the following and you would never end up being disappointed.

The highest placement package offered at IIFM Bhopal was 14 LPA in 2020. The salary you would be offered here would not be very appealing as it might not be as popular as the others.

As far as loan is concerned and considering the entire atmosphere or IIFM, Bhopal- it would absolutely be worth it.

Everything depends on your interest ultimately. You are bound to feel burdened when you already are familiar with the fact that the job neither carries your interest nor does it pay you well.

What is advisable, to join the PGDMM/PGDPM at NITIE or get a job?

KM
Krishna Mehar Posted On : August 20th, 2021
Studied MBA from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2013)

It's a subjective question and mostly depends on your profile. PGDMM would be advantageous, if you are a fresher, especially with a mechanical or manufacturing background. It is better in terms of securing a good profile, a good package (Avg. 12 LPA), and robust manufacturing domain command.

A few years of work experience would be preferable for the PGDPM course, but it is not required. It's a safe option to play for both freshmen and those with a little experience because it improves your profile, package, and adds the rich experience of a top MBA school - NITIE.

Which is better LBSIM, Delhi PGDM (general) or IMI, Delhi PGDM (B&FS)?

AS
Amay Singh Posted On : March 3rd, 2023
PGDM from International Management Institute (2019)

PGDM BFS is a viable option if you are keen about numbers and finance in general. PGDM core and PGDM BFS rarely has a major difference in curriculum except that marketing subjects of BFS would be less intriguing and the major pedagogy is directed towards marketing of finance products and services only.

A PGDM core student is open to a plethora of opportunities during placements as he is eligible to appear for companies offering marketing and sales profiles. On the contrary, a PGDM BFS student has been exposed to a customized curriculum that focuses mainly on Finance and lacks a wide range of opportunities. However, he has a more definite chance of securing placement at a company offering Finance roles like Banks and other financial institutions. This advantage seems very minimal right now but with the increase in the relevance of the curriculum and demand of the course, it will soon be coveted among Finance aspirants.

The BFS faculties are considered to be among the best given the excellent performance of BFS students in the recent years and the increasing popularity of the course. The companies visiting the campus for BFS are not only banks but include AMCs, NBFCs, FinTechs and other Fin Services firms. The course targets the entire Banking and Finance sector.

At the end of the day, what remains of your college life is not the specific course you chose but the college you chose to pursue it. Be it PGDM Core or PGDM BFS, IMI Delhi is the perfect college to experience a great college life.

How much does the Work experience, test score, other factors matter for admission in PGDBA course hosted by universities IIT Kgp, IIM C , ISI Kolkata?

RS
Rishabh Singh Posted On : February 2nd, 2024
Lives in banglore

The section-wise weightage for final PGDBA shortlisting is not revealed by these colleges. They analyze all these aspects and a candidate’s interview when putting out the final offer. The interview helps them assess what a candidate brings to the table. Even if they start announcing the section-wise weightages some day, that should not affect your test preparation. Your work experience and past academic record are unchangeable factors, but your entrance test score is in your hands.

Study for the entrance exam with utmost sincerity, and stop worrying about other aspects of your profile that you can not change.

Which is better, IIM Lucknow ABM or IRMA?

MB
Mridul Bagga Posted On : January 16th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (Graduated 2019)

The answer is dependent on your level of interest.

The scenario at IIM Lucknow PGP-ABM is as follows:

  • Placements: PGP and PGP ABM placements are both common. As a result, chances of getting into roles such as marketing, strategy, consulting, and so on would be higher than for Agri-Business-focused roles.
  • Overall Knowledge: As an ABM student, you can take PGP courses such as Strategy, Finance, and Operations. This translates to a better understanding of business.
  • Opportunities: Opportunities for an ABM student would be similar to those for PGP students at IIM L. As an IIM L student, you can compete in business case study competitions that are only open to top B-schools.
  • Summer Internship: ABM Students are placed in companies such as BCG, Accenture Strategy, JPMC, Aditya Birla Group, Hindustan Unilever, P&G, Britannia, Airtel, Uber, Mars, PepperFry, Udaan, Hindustan Times, and others during their summer internship.

Many PGP ABM students prefer FMCG firms for Sales/Marketing positions.

  • Agriculture-Specific Roles: Because of the small batch size, development sector organizations (NGOs, cooperatives, and government development agencies) and CSR foundations would be in short supply.

In short, you will almost certainly receive a higher salary at IIM Lucknow, but it may not be in an agribusiness/development sector organization.

The IRMA Scenario:

  • A class of more than 160 students.
  • The curriculum would be centered on agriculture and the rural sector.
  • Placements: A large number of development sector organizations, NGOs, cooperatives, and government development agencies seek placements through IRMA.

For example, UNICEF, Tata Trusts (FISE), Vedanta Foundation, Reliance Foundation, and BAIF Development Research Foundation.

If you are very specific about agribusiness or rural development roles, you should apply to IRMA because of the large batch size and the increased number of Agri-specific roles coming to the campus. If you want to explore other sectors or domains and are looking for a brand name for life as well as a higher package, i.e. an experience similar to that of a PGP student, then IIM Lucknow is the place to be.

In NITIE which program among PGDIE, PGDMM and PGDPM is best suitable for computer and IT related person?

SR
Sangita Roy Posted On : August 26th, 2021
PGDIM Industrial Management, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2018)

Among the mentioned programs PGDMM and PGDPM are comparatively newer and provide some really good courses for students with computer and IT backgrounds. If you want to take the GATE exam and get into NITIE through PGDIE then in the 2nd year of your course you will get a wide range of electives available. Here are some of the electives.

  • Advanced IT for Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Business Process Integration and Management
  • Computer Integrated Manufacturing
  • Data Analysis and Decision Making
  • Data Analytics
  • Data Communications and Networking
  • Data Mining for Business Intelligence
  • Decision Support Systems and Expert Systems
  • E commerce
  • E customer Relationship Management
  • ERP, etc.

Most of the courses here are Computer sector-related and related to the programming and software side whereas some of them are related to the IT sector and mainly deal with the hardware side.

But make a note that IE is not an M.Tech course. It is a management course. So, you will get placed in management roles post your degree.

In a XLRI HRM program interview, do they ask why you want to make a shift to HR after having 3+ years of work experience in the IT industry?

MS
Mansi Sheth Posted On : June 28th, 2021
Studied at Xavier School of Management

This is one of the common questions asked in an MBA interview. Generally the question “Why MBA?” encompasses all these. They may twist this question slightly according to your background.

These questions are frequently asked to gauge what is your thought process behind choosing an MBA. They want to know if you have given a deep thought about it and how you can convince the interviewer.

Secondly, they want to understand why you made this choice. The work you have done to date and the career trajectory you took, how it was good for you and how doing an MBA might be a good idea for your career progression. The more concrete and personal reasons you have, the more convincing it is both for you as well as for the panelists.

So, definitely pick some good reasons from your work experience and why it convinced you to pursue MBA in the HRM program. First, convince yourself and if you can, you can definitely convince the interviewers.
