How are placements in XLRI HRM? What kind of companies recruit and what are the packages offered?

I have a friend at XLRI. According to him, placement at XLRI depends upon the following few criteria.
- Companies visiting the campus for the recruitment process during summer and final placement sessions.
- Your overall academic profile.
- The way you perform in your summer internship, which can fetch you placement offers at the same company.
- Duration and place of your work experience (if any).
- You can get placed if you win any of the company-organized competitions.

Which are the dream companies for an XLRI HRM student?
A dream company depends upon your choice and where your interest lies. Typically, HR Consulting, IR, Manufacturing, or Line HR Roles are more popular.
- If you are interested in HR Consulting then Hay group, Accenture consulting are considered a dream as both of these companies pay significantly higher than other companies like Mercer or Hewitt.
- If your interest lies in IR or Manufacturing then FMCG companies like P&G, Unilever, ITC, Asian Paints, etc should be your dream companies.
- If you are interested in Line HR or corporate HR only then Novartis, Stan Chat, Microsoft, or other big banks and the Software or product based companies etc. are considered dream companies. Novartis offered their position in Switzerland so it was a dream for many students.

When it comes to the beginning and advancing your career in HR, the alumni is pretty good for XLers who support their group members, and it's a game-changer.
How is the BM course of XLRI Jamshedpur different from management courses present in any of the IIMs?
I seriously doubt that you will have much success in locating a student who has taken both of those classes. It is more prudent to make an effort to get this question answered by members of the faculty that are shared by both institutions. There is a significant amount of faculty exchange between XLRI Jamshedpur and the other IIMs, most notably IIMCal.
XLRI Jamshedpur's BM program interested me. Academic standards are high, in my opinion. It had less access to the world in Jamshedpur. As a result, students participated in fewer international exchange programs, guest lectures, visiting faculty, hands-on chances, and genuine projects, all of which would have likely improved education.
How is IIM Ranchi HRM?
As a fresher, you will find the curriculum quite hectic and unapproachable. Yet with proper motivation and enough time you will find yourself adapting to the rigor and it will become a part of your life. Some major highlights of the course are
- Induction program: IIM Ranchi conducts a unique induction process wherein students from all the programs work together. It helps to inculcate Teamwork, creativity, and leadership through various tasks. The Introduction To Business session gives you a broad idea of both HR and other domains like Marketing, Finance, Operations, etc.
- Curriculum: The curriculum at IIM Ranchi does not solely focus on HR subjects. Rather, it gives a strategic and integrative perspective from the very beginning. What is the CAT cutoff for the PGP-IM in MDI Gurgaon?
MDI Gurgaon CAT cut-off is 94 percentile. It has been reducing over the years starting since 2010. The CAT cutoff is usually released when the GD-PI list is published. But I would like you to reconsider your decision of pursuing PGP-IM instead of PGPM. You can complete PGPM and then go abroad for an exchange program for 3 months. But if you are getting PGP-IM in MDI Gurgaon and PGPM in a mediocre B School, then choosing MDI is a better option.
Some highlights about the PGP-IM course are
- Students of both the PGP-IM and PGPM programs are given equal opportunities and there is no partiality. However, some companies do prefer PGPM students only while some prefer PGP-IM students.
- It’s a very rigorous course but you get to make International friends and access to the alumni network of institutes like ESCP.
Trust me 5-10 years later, your performance will matter more than anything.
How should one prepare for an interview at the Goa Institute of Management for a healthcare PGDM?
The interview round is the Final round of the GIM Admission Process. It’s unbiased and organised. The panel conducts the interview on the basis of your application form. Most of the questions put forward to you are related to

Which programme is better in terms of placement amongst PGDPM and PGDMM at NITIE, Mumbai?
These courses were first inaugurated in the year 2014, and ever since then, students undeniably acquired satisfactory placement offers.
- The seats in NITIE Mumbai depend upon which category you belong to.
- The current seat availability is about 304, considering each course. This is one reason why both the courses are equally good to pursue.
- Both PGDPM and PGDMM offer better results in terms of placements.
- Talking about the scope, it is almost the same for both the courses. The opportunity either course will bring is similar and has less to no difference at all.
- Both the subjects will allow students to sit for summer internships, as will be brought in by different firms.
- Also it will permit all of them to sit for the final placements likewise.
- The average salary offered for PGDPM is 12-15 LPA while for PGDMM, it is 11-12 LPA
The only separate piece of information this has is that in PGDPM, students are preferred by recruiters if they come with a minimum work experience of about 2 to 3 years.

Which is better purely in terms of placement, XLRI BM or HRM?
Although choosing a course just based on placement records is not a good idea, there are some insights you must know before deciding.
- Placement is for the first job which you might do for 2–3 years while your career will span for 30–35 years. You should choose what you feel you want to be doing.
- You must have heard that HR roles offer you better work-life balance but it might not be true in every case. It depends a lot on the company, your manager, and your role. If work-life balance is your criteria, you might feel a shock when you join a company. HR might not have business targets but you may face other pressures.
- Placements in any campus depend on your luck too. HR batch strength increase in XL might make the competition for the good roles a little higher because the number of HR roles is limited. BM batch is still divided amongst Fin/Mar/Ops camps giving them specific roles but the number of opportunities might be higher.
All in all, placements won't secure your future in any way if you choose a field where you aren’t interested.
