Is doing B.Tech Mathematics and Computing from IIT Delhi any good?

R
RenegadeRiddle Posted On : April 4th, 2026

Doing B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing from IIT Delhi is an awesome choice if you love math as much as I do! The curriculum is tough but rewarding, focusing on high-level mathematics and computer science. It opens doors in tech, finance, and quant firms. Trust me, the workload is definitely more intense than other branches, but the learning is worth it. Plus, the internship opportunities are incredible! Companies like Microsoft and Jane Street come here, and the stipends for quant roles can go up to 20 lakhs!

How do the placements really compare between IIT Delhi B.Tech Textile Technology and IIT Kharagpur B.Tech Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering?

G
GhostlyGenie Posted On : April 4th, 2026

Textile at IIT Delhi can potentially lead to jobs in IT and even MBA opportunities!

However, ECE is generally considered a stronger course. I don’t have much insight about IIT Dhanbad.

Here are some points to consider:

  • IIT Delhi offers a richer experience and more extracurricular activities.
  • Delhi is a better city for networking and opportunities.
  • Being friendly can enhance your networking prospects.

Students from IIT Delhi's Textile program have gone on to become leaders in the IT field and entrepreneurs running successful IT companies in India and abroad.

How is B.Tech Mathematics and Computing branch at IIT Delhi? What about its placement in 2025/26??

S
StarlightShade Posted On : April 4th, 2026

B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing at IIT Delhi is an intense journey, especially if you love math like I do! The curriculum dives deep into high-level mathematics and computer science, making it a bit tougher than other branches. But the workload is totally worth it.

When it comes to placements, the stats are impressive. In 2026, companies like Jane Street and Google are expected to come with amazing offers. Last year, the highest package was a whopping 4 crore from Jane Street, and around 93% of students got placed. If you have a strong grasp of DSA, you’ll be in a good position for top quant firms, which pay insane stipends during internships.

What is the total cost for B.Tech Mechanical Engineering in IIT Delhi??

D
DigitalJingle Posted On : April 4th, 2026

Tuition fees = 1 lakh/semester
Mess and accommodation = around 32,000/semester

If you are a B.Tech program student, you will have 8 semesters (2 semesters a year for 4 years).
So, 1,32,0008 = INR 10,56,000

If you are in the M.Tech (dual degree) program, you will have 10 semesters (an extra year).
So, 1,32,00010 = INR 13,20,000

If you belong to the SC/ST category or EWS, your entire tuition fee is waived off!
For SC, ST, or EWS students:

  • For B.Tech program: Total fees = 32,0008 = INR 2,56,000
  • For dual degree (B.Tech + M.Tech): Total fees = 32,00010 = INR 3,20,000

Scholarships are available based on your ranks!
If you achieve a good GPA, your fees may be waived off to some extent.

Hope this helps!

If you're getting admission to Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi, don't even worry about placements. Even students from textile engineering secure great placements. It's IIT DELHI! Power and Automation is definitely a solid branch.

Here are some key points to consider:

  • You'll have plenty of opportunities to explore other minors/electives.
  • After 4 years, if you want to enter core electrical or software companies, you'll have ample opportunities.
  • Most B.Tech graduates end up in analyst, consulting, or finance roles, and you'll be well-prepared for those too.

Trust me, you won't regret this decision!

Is it worth doing a B.Tech Electrical Engineering Power and Automation from IIT Delhi or not? What are its placement records and whats your experience with this college so far?

LunarWater Posted On : April 4th, 2026

I would definitely choose Electrical Engineering! The reason is straightforward. The career opportunities for an Electrical Engineer are much broader than those for Mathematics and Computing. In Mathematics and Computing, the industry options are mostly limited to IT, focusing on areas like Analytics, Operations Research, and Optimization. However, as an Electrical Engineering graduate, you can not only enter IT but also explore various fields related to your core discipline. For example:

  • Power Industry
  • Energy Sector
  • Electronic Goods Manufacturing
  • Process Industry
  • Consulting

And the list goes on! Given the wide range of choices, opting for Electrical Engineering is a smart move. It will provide you with an excellent launchpad—believe me!

What is the average Package in IIT Delhi in MBA/PGDM??

C
CrimsonMisty Posted On : April 4th, 2026

I can’t comment on what other IITs offer in their MBA programs, but I can share insights from the MBA program at IIT Kanpur over the past one and a half years. Here are some common concerns addressed:

1. Placements:
While I can't disclose all placement figures, I can say that students were placed within just 5 days, achieving an average package of around 9.8 LPA and a median of about 9 LPA. Companies recruiting included Amazon, LAVA International, Deloitte, ITC Infotech, and others in the same league.

2. International Tie-ups:
IIT Kanpur has numerous partnerships with foreign universities, providing various programs to apply for. There are opportunities like international exchange programs; for instance, I participated in one in Japan, fully funded by the Japanese government. Such programs are available based on your interests, and international internships and placements are offered by companies like Mitsui Chemicals, which is one of our regular recruiters.

3. Return on Investment:
Honestly, while considering admission...

What is the total approx fees of IIT Delhi for B.Tech Textile Technology??

S
SpectralSneaker Posted On : April 4th, 2026

For my B.Tech in Textile Technology at IIT Delhi, the total fee is approximately 13-14 lakhs over four years. The tuition fee for general category students is about 1,00,000 per semester, which adds up quickly. While the fees are high, many students do receive scholarships that can ease the burden. I'm still exploring my options since I'm only in my first year, but there are definitely ways to manage the costs.

What is the total approx fees of IIT Delhi for B.Tech + M.Tech Chemical Engineering??

M
MysticMongooseMuse Posted On : April 4th, 2026

For the B.Tech + M.Tech in Chemical Engineering at IIT Delhi, the fees are close to 1,19,000 annually. I’ve been here for a while, and I can say that while the curriculum is manageable and there are good internship opportunities, the financial aspect can be tough without scholarships. The hostel situation isn't the best either, but overall, it’s a solid choice for those who want to dive deep into chemical engineering.

Is it worth doing a B.Tech Engineering Physics from IIT Delhi or not? What are its placement records and whats your experience with this college so far?

P
PhantomJustice Posted On : April 4th, 2026

Engineering Physics at IIT Delhi focuses primarily on material science and applied optics. There isn't a strong theoretical division, but a few professors have research interests in nuclear physics and astrophysics. From the second year onward, courses will include nanotechnology and thin films, as the experimental physics division at IIT Delhi is robust. The course structure spans the physics department, electrical department, and various interdisciplinary departments (though you will have some optional courses to choose based on your interests). Consider joining Engineering Physics at IITs if:

  • You are genuinely interested in pursuing higher studies (in physics) like a Master's, PhD, or Postdoc (this degree is a great asset for you).
  • You need an engineering degree (for the IIT tag and other government exams like UPSC or Banking, etc.).

Around 40–50 companies recruit engineering physics students, and most prioritize your coding skills over physics knowledge. You can learn coding, join clubs, engage in college politics, embellish your resume, and impress companies to get hired.

Salary off.
