Is it a good idea to graduate from IGNOU while simultaneously preparing for UPSC CSE? Exactly how tough is it to get a BA degree from IGNOU?

SM
Saurabh Mishra Posted On : November 10th, 2020
Psychology graduate from ignou

Indira Gandhi National Open University is a public university approved by NCTE and AICTE. It offers a number of open learning programs and is well known and recognized among a number of different organizations like the Association of Indian Universities, therefore, doing a B.A. degree from here is a good choice. The following points highlight important aspects of obtaining a B.A degree from the institute.

Academics:

  • The BA degrees at IGNOU offer a wide variety of core disciplines in subjects like Economics, Sociology, and Public Administration with a lot of the course work overlapping with UPSC preparations.

  • The exams for the coursework are also designed such that they benefit the student if they are appearing for other exams like UPSC.

  • IGNOU is known for its well-founded courses that ensure the best interests of the student. Depending on if one plans to choose a distance learning or open course degree, one can choose to appear for UPSC.

BA degree from IGNOU:

  • Obtaining a BA degree from the university depends upon if you are a part-time student at the institute or committed to full-time study. The former situation might be a little tough on the student.

  • Students are continuously evaluated with assignments, marks from which are counted for the final result.

  • Assignments carry a weightage of 30% of the total result. Students are barred from appearing for end term examinations if they miss an assignment.

  • The major evaluation component is the term-end evaluation system which carries a total of 70% weightage. These exams are conducted twice a year.

  • Students are expected to study from the course material provided and answer accordingly to the point. Most importantly, ensure that one is registered for the exam, failing which results are not declared.

In conclusion, you can definitely prepare for the UPSC CSE at the same time as your BA degree. While it is not very tough to clear the BA degree, a habit of regular study will definitely help one obtain it with a good result.

It’s needless to say MBBS course work is grueling. Setbacks and supplementary papers are a common occurrence. So, don’t lose heart.  Put in the required effort and prioritize your studies over everything else. I know students who have failed in the first year yet scoured 70+ marks throughout their MBBS.

Indian School of Business, School of Planning & Architecture

One of my friends recently graduated from the School of Planning and Architecture Delhi. Here is some snippet of his experience.

  • The campus is situated at the heart of the city. It is split into two blocks. There is hardly any space for extra-curricular activities.
  • The faculty base is quite good and they also bring visiting professors, guest lecturers, etc. However, there is a lack of a research interface.
  • The administration operates the same way as any other Govt. organization.

Overall, you will have a unique experience on campus.

M.B.B.S from All India Institute of Medical Sciences

AIIMS Nagpur has improved a lot over the last few years. It has already moved to its permanent campus. The OPD is functioning in full fedge.

Construction of most of the hostel is complete. Hostels have academic blocks, libraries, guest houses, Ayush building, Dharmshala. The hostel rooms are well-furnished. Students have access to washing machines, iron rooms, indoor playing rooms, etc.

The campus has good sports facilities. There are basketball courts, volleyball courts, tennis courts, etc. There are also proper indoor halls for badminton and table tennis, etc.

The faculties of the institute are some of the best in their respective fields. A lot of co-curricular activities are held around the academic year.

Is maths required for MBA?

XLRI (2019)

You will need good aptitude skills to secure a decent rank in CAT. Once you are into the MBA course, you won’t need to learn things like Co-ordinate Geometry or Calculus but you need to have basic maths knowledge to understand the topics taught in MBA. This is the case for any specialization, be it Finance, Marketing, Operations, or HR.

What is the cutoff for an MCA in NIT Trichy through the NIMCET?

RG
Ridhhi Sen Gupta Posted On : August 30th, 2021
Studies MCA in NIT Trichy (2021)

The required cutoff partially depends upon the difficulty level of the NIMCET paper since it varies from one year to another.

However, for the previous two years, NITK was the conductor of the NIMCET exam and was actually announcing the ranks based on the scores predetermined by the authorities. For further securing admission at NIT Trichy, you are required to score around 800 or above if only the paper is comparatively easy and you belong from the general category.

In case the paper is somewhat moderate in its difficulty level, then achieving 700 and above can help you secure admission to NIT Trichy. But, if it is undeniably difficult, then 500+ is supposed to be quite enough for securing a seat at NIT Trichy.

What is it like to live in IIT Mandi's Kamand Campus?

AB
Amit Bakshi Posted On : March 16th, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi (2017)

IIT Mandi is excellently portrayed with the verse that IIT Mandi cannot have boundaries. With the beauty of nature all around, the campus of IIT Mandi and its surroundings are bliss to the eye. The points below give a brief vision of the campus of IIT Mandi.

  • Traveling towards the campus, there are clouds all around or crossing by some river at times in the way.
  • Visiting the campus, students get mesmerized at their first sight into the unsymmetrical and beautiful natural creation.
  • The hostel and D2 mess are situated just at the footstep of hills, with lots of free space all-around.
  • The roads that connect IIT Mandi and its surroundings are narrow hilly-lanes, with amazing scenic beauty.
  • There is a place close to a valley known as T-point, which is a must-visit.
  • There are mountaineer dogs on the campus, who become friends after staying inside for quite some time.

Therefore, a place like IIT Mandi is worth staying and students once having lived there, don’t like any other campus compared to IIT Mandi.
