Should I go for MDI Gurgaon, if I am already earning 7lpa keeping in mind the fees, and are the placements good enough to cover my opportunity cost for the 2 years?

If you are already earning a salary as high as INR 71 LPA, I don’t think an MBA from MDI Gurgaon will do you any good. If you have decided on going for an MBA nevertheless, target the top B Schools like IIM A, IIM B, IIM C, XLRI, FMS, or IIM L. Choosing MDI for MBA is recommended only if you have offers from average B Schools like new IIMs, SPJIMR, NITIE, etc.

So first you need to get maximum calls from the top B Schools only then can you make a wise and informed decision.

Is it advisable to settle on JBIMS, if one only aimed for IIM's?

AP
Ashish Pai Posted On : February 20th, 2023
Studied at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies

Comparing JBIMS with IIMs is highly unjustified as IIMs are way ahead of JBIMS or FMS even if we consider the ROI. They are unique in many aspects such as

  • IIM ABC and ISB is the only B-schools that offer Investment banking profiles in placement. Even if we look at other profiles, it’s easy to infer that they are much superior in terms of quality than the ones offered at JBIMS.
  • Being a pass out of IIMs or ISB, you have an upper hand in the higher spectrum of one’s career, i.e, leadership roles.
  • JBIMS or FMS lack the general ambiance and culture of a typical B School due to a lack of residential and campus facilities.
  • The peer quality of IIMS and ISB are much better than JBIMS whose gender ratio, diversity, and competitive exam are very one-dimensional.
  • The only significant aspect of JBIMS is the ROI which when negated makes JBIMS as mediocre as SP Jain and MDI.
  • The placement statistics of JBIMS are much similar to that of new IIMs or average B Schools like MDI, and SP Jain. They are in no way in comparison to the top IIMs even with batch sizes as small as 120.

So one should choose JBIMS or FMS over IIM only if one wants to spend low fees, take no loans, or pursue MBA in Mumbai or Delhi.

Is CLAT a difficult exam?

PP
Pablo Patranobish Posted On : January 20th, 2021
FMS Delhi (2019)

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level law entrance examination. It is conducted every year by the consortium of NLUs. CLAT question paper is based on MCQ format and consists of 150 questions. The exam tests the critical thinking ability of law aspirants. CLAT is not a difficult exam to crack. Anyone who is well prepared can get into an NLU. However, it can be a bit tough to get into the top five NLUs.

The difficulty level of an exam depends on two things, which are as follows.

Pattern and level of preparation:

  • The CLAT question paper consists of 150 questions spread over five sections. The five sections are – English language, Current affairs including general knowledge, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and quantitative techniques.
  • ALL the questions are comprehension based. So, a candidate has to read the entire passage to solve a set of questions. What makes the exam scary is the time frame. Candidates have to complete the entire paper within two hours.
  • However, practicing a lot of mocks will help overcome this difficulty. Candidates having the habit of reading newspapers will have an edge in this exam.

So, solving various questions, mocks, reading newspapers, and staying updated about the happenings around the world are the keys to achieve success in CLAT.

Level of Competition:

Every year around 65,000 candidates apply for this exam and the number keeps increasing with each passing year. However, the ratio of selection in CLAT is higher as compared to JEE.

In nutshell, CLAT requires planned and smart preparation, and the rest will find its way.

Does APJ AKTU refund money after a challenge evaluation in semester exams? If yes, then what is the procedure?

KS
Koushani Sarkar, Posted On : October 27th, 2021
Bachelor of Technology from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (2017)

Getting a refund is only possible if your marks are increased by more than 20%. In the new procedure, the university will evaluate your sheets by themselves, probably in front of the student.

You will receive a refund of INR 10,000 which is double the amount you have paid. The amount will be credited to your bank account after the results of the challenge evaluations are announced.

Lastly, filing for the challenge evaluation is a very simple process. You need to fill in the details and make the payments. You can do it online or through your college.

What's wrong with Haldia Institute of Technology?

AP
Anuradha Priyadarshan Posted On : September 21st, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science Engineering,Haldia Institute of Technology (2020)

My brother is a recent graduate from Haldia Institute of Technology and as per his experience, there are many things that should not happen at the institute, the way they are happening right now.

  • According to the placement statistics, the percentage of students placed from the institute through on-campus recruitment drives is only 50%.
  • Haldia Institute faces difficulty in connecting with mass recruiting firms like TCS, Accenture, Wipro, for on-campus recruitment of the students enrolled in the various UG and PG programs at the institute.
  • The teaching style followed by most of the faculty members is quite degressive and they should learn some new tactics to make the studies more engaging.
  • The administration and concerned authorities do not maintain proper relations with the alumni of the institute which would surely prove to be disadvantageous for the institute in the long run.

These were a few of the aspects about the Haldia Institute of Technology that were considered to be wrong. The institute should work upon these aspects for the betterment of students.

What are the future prospects of getting a BSc degree from DU? What are the best colleges in DU?

PM
Prashant Mathur Posted On : October 12th, 2022
Chemistry Honors from University of Delhi

In today's world, getting a bachelor's degree from any college isn't worth much.

DU has a brand name, but if your overall grades aren't good enough, having a degree from Delhi University is pointless.

By providing many resources and an intellectual environment, Delhi University will assist you in exploring various aspects of your personality.

However, if you have a bachelor's degree in any of the Science subjects or even Mathematics, you will need to do a master's or even a PhD to get a decent-paying job.

However, if you are an SRCC or Stephens graduate, you may be able to get a good placement from the college itself if you have a degree in Arts or Commerce with above-average marks.

The best colleges vary depending on your subject, such as SRCC for those interested in commerce. Stephen's is also regarded as one of the most prestigious universities. Other good colleges include Miranda House, Hindu, and Lady Shri Ram.

Lives in New Delhi

All three colleges are good engineering colleges and each of them has their unique pros and cons. For instance,

In terms of placements and academics, the preference order would be

  • NIT Silchar>NIT Agartala>Tezpur University

In terms of campus life, the preference order would be

  • Tezpur University>NIT Agartala>NIT Silchar

As a whole, NITs are well known for their excellent placements, brand name, faculty, and elaborate alumni network whereas Tezpur University is known for its widespread beautiful campus, research culture, and extracurricular activities.

So, you can choose the college that meets your expectations of college life.

How tough is VITEEE as compared to BITSAT?

RY
Ruchi Yadav Posted On : May 2nd, 2026

VITEEE vs BITSAT difficulty comparison:

both are competitive private engineering entrance exams but differ in style:

VITEEE (VIT Engineering Entrance Examination):

  • 160 questions in 2.5 hours — faster pace but easier questions
  • Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology, English, Aptitude
  • No negative marking — encourages attempting all questions
  • Difficulty level: moderate. mostly NCERT-based with some additional concepts
  • Easier than JEE Main in terms of concept depth

BITSAT (Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test):

  • 130 questions in 3 hours but has English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning sections (unique to BITSAT)
  • Negative marking: -1 for wrong, +3 for correct
  • Bonus 12 questions if you finish early — adds strategic element
  • Difficulty level: slightly harder than VITEEE, comparable to JEE Main level for Maths/Physics
  • The Logical Reasoning and English sections are extra preparation areas

verdict: BITSAT is harder than VITEEE. VITEEE is accessible to students with solid NCERT + some extra prep. BITSAT needs JEE Main-level preparation plus extra focus on English and LR. BITSAT for BITS Pilani CS requires 350+/450, which is very high — tough to achieve.
