How is the placement of Shoolini University?

LR
Lakshmi Rawat Posted On : June 24th, 2021
Studied Mechanical Engineering at Shoolini University (2017)

Shoolini University has good placement records especially for the B.Com (Hons) and MBA degrees offered by the School of Business Management and Liberal Arts. Some of the companies that offered jobs to the students of this school are

Hindustan Unilever

ICICI Bank

Bank of America

LG

HDFC Bank

Yes Bank

Airtel

Reliance Jio

Oberoi Group

Genpact

Apart from that, the various biotech programs offered by the School of Biotechnology and the pharmacy programs offered by the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences are also pretty good.

Talking of the engineering departments, then apart from Mechanical Engineering and a little bit of CSE, the placements are average to not so good. Except for a few good companies, there are hardly any good quality placements. The packages are low and the jobs offered are also not core engineering.

Except for management, biotech and pharmacy all other placements are not good. The faculty at these departments are also better than other departments. The university website claims 100% placements for the students with the highest package being 15 LPA for the year 2020.

Lives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

According to MNNIT Allahabad rules, you need to multiply your CPI with 10 to get the percentage. If your CPI is 9.4, your percentage will be - 9.4*10 = 94. Although the MNNIT doesn’t have a specified formula for CPI to percentage conversion, this is the standard practice used for this calculation.

There are practical-oriented courses such as PG lab and Design Thinking courses. These courses will help you get industry-ready. Faculty base of the institute is great. Most of the faculty members have years of experience in the corporate world.

Diksha Harjai Posted On : March 16th, 2021
MBA from K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (2020)

There are a bunch of things that an MBA student at KJ Somaiya can associate with his/her life, reading through the reviews and experiences of students from the institute. Students after cracking CAT, XAT, or CMAT, come to a B school and get used to the hustle and bustle of daily work-life.

The points listed below are a brief representation of the life at SIMSR.

  • Students from SIMSR pass their years in MBA with a lot of surprises. From juggling between live projects, quizzes, placement, case study competitions to sports and committees, there are engagements all around. In addition to those, the institute will teach you to prioritize what to do and what not.
  • In the initial days of college, ice-breaking sessions are held to encourage students about the course. Followed by that, accounts and economic tests, marketing projects, and Harvard case presentations are taken. SIMSR teaches you to be both effective and efficient, going through hard work, coordination, teamwork, and preparations.
  • The faculty has excellent industry experience with lectures mostly on role play, case studies, presentations, and small activities.
  • The library of SIMSR is huge, with plenty of books, magazines, journals, fiction, and several other databases like Emerald, Proquest, etc. The library even has a Bloomberg laboratory to teach students about capital markets and fulfill their curiosities related to the same.
  • The campus of SIMSR has a large number of sports and fitness-related facilities, so many that even lazy people get associated with physical activities after moving into the campus.
  • Guidance from seniors is always available inside the campus. From lending books and notes, warnings, and inside tips, to building a CV, seniors are always ready to help.

Overall, life at SIMSR is worth the choice, with a good result to every hectic works and pressure. Living at the campus takes the positivity of a student into work and enhances it to better results. It teaches about life itself.

How many marks should one get to have access to CSE in BITS Goa?

MB
Mrunmay Bhatt Posted On : March 21st, 2023
BE in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus (Graduated 2018)

In BITS Goa, admission to the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program is based on the candidate's performance in the BITSAT exam, which is conducted by the institute. The BITSAT exam is a computer-based test that evaluates candidates' aptitude in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English Proficiency, and Logical Reasoning.

The BITSAT exam is scored out of 450 marks, and the cutoff for CSE in BITS Goa varies from year to year. In general, a candidate should aim to score at least 350-400 marks in the BITSAT exam to have a good chance of getting admission to the CSE program at BITS Goa. However, this is just a rough estimate, and the actual cutoff may be higher or lower depending on factors like the difficulty level of the exam and the number of applicants for the CSE program in a particular year.

It's important to note that the BITSAT exam is just one aspect of the admission process, and the final selection is based on a combination of the candidate's BITSAT score and their performance in Class 12 or equivalent examination. BITS Goa also considers factors like extracurricular achievements, work experience, and diversity in the student body while making admission decisions.

How is campus life in IIEST Shibpur, especially for Non Bengalis?

AS
Ankita Shroff Posted On : February 23rd, 2021
B.Tech Civil Engineering & Mathematics, IIEST, Shibpur (2019)

One of my seniors was a resident of Bhopal and he was a student of IIEST Shibpur. These are the experiences he had in the institute.

  • Since the year he was granted admission, IIEST Shibpur has been taking admissions through JEE Mains and now it has a reservation of 50% of seats for home-state candidates, just like the NITs. Over the years, the number of non-Bengali students has certainly improved.
  • Unlike South India, where you have to communicate in English for the majority of the time, in IIT Shibpur, the professors know how to communicate in the native language. New faculty from outside West Bengal is also being recruited since the institute converted to IIEST.
  • In terms of food, if you are a vegetarian, you will probably have a good experience here. West Bengal has a variety of sweets and seafood.
  • As most of your friends and peers will be Bengali, you will see a lot of them leaving for their homes on holidays and/or weekends.
  • Both Bengali and non-Bengali live among each other on the campus in peace. The seniors are approachable and will always help when asked for. Ragging is strictly prohibited in the institution.
  • The institute also has clubs where you can engage in interaction with students from other states. You can share your knowledge, experiences and even hone your skills in these clubs.

Overall, my senior had an enjoyable experience in the institute and he faced no prejudice from the Bengali students.

How is NIT-Jalandhar for CSE now?

DV
Dishant Verma Posted On : January 2nd, 2023
Lived in Jalandhar, India (1998–2017)

NIT Jalandhar is a reputable university. Not particularly extraordinary or so. It's just a quiet campus with standard instruction where CSE graduates have a good placement rate. It gradually lost its allure. It used to be one of the best NITs, but lately, it has declined.

However, it is still a very good college, with CSE, in particular, being a particularly lovely and developed branch.
