NK
Nauman Khan Posted On : October 4th, 2021
Studied at Sinhgad College of Engineering,Pune

Attendance is of utmost importance at Pune University and you should have a minimum attendance of 75%. It is obvious that no one maintains a full record, especially in engineering. If you have at least 50% attendance, you will be fine and no one will bother you.

However, you will be told to improve your attendance if it's between 30-50%, and if it's below 30%, then the university will involve your parents and resolve the issue. you can guess, and your parents might have to be involved.

It is important to at least attend some of the lectures as your lab practicals will be evaluated and your absence can cause problems.

Between NISER and UM-DAE CBS, which is better in career prospects?

AM

studied Chemistry at National Institute of Science Education and Research (2020)

For basic sciences, it’s difficult to choose between NISER Bhubaneswar and UM-DAE CBS. Both institutes have their advantages.

NISER has great faculty, laboratories, coursework. The campus of the institute is well-equipped and is spread over 3000 acres.

UM-DAE CBS has most of the visiting faculties from TIFR, Mumbai. Also, as it is located at the heart of Mumbai you will have better exposure. You can do your project from places like TIFR, BARC, IIT Bombay, etc.

I got 82% in 10th and 70% in 12th. Can I get an admission in IIM-Calcutta?

MJ
Mira Jadhav Posted On : April 15th, 2026

Admission chances depend on entrance exam scores, category reservation, state quota, and annual competition levels.

Assessment factors:

  • Previous Cutoff Trends: Analyze last 3 years' data for your category and branch.
  • Category Reservation: Cutoffs vary significantly across General, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS.
  • State Quota Benefits: Home state candidates often have 10-20 percentile lower cutoffs.
  • Branch Popularity: CSE and ECE have higher cutoffs than mechanical or civil.
  • Counseling Rounds: Later rounds may see reduced cutoffs—participate in all rounds.

Use official predictors and last year's cutoff data. Prepare backup options across different rounds and colleges.

What should I choose between SVNIT CS or DAIICT??

AA
Aarti Ahuja Posted On : January 4th, 2024
Lives in Ahmedabad

My JEE Mains rank was good enough to get me a seat at SVNIT for B.Tech CSE. I finally decided to join ICT at DAIICT because-

  1. The faculty members have completed their Phds from renowned Indian and foreign universities, and each of them are actively engaged in some research work.
  2. The course curriculum is regularly updated, unlike the NITs that keep on teaching the old curriculum for long periods of time without regular updates.
  3. ICT is a combination of CSE and ECE. So its curriculum is very broad and rich. This is the reason why more companies prefer DAIICT over SVNIT.
  4. Only about 360 students are selected for the B.Tech program of DAIICT every year. This speaks volumes about the quality of students on campus.
  5. A good number of DAIICT students are selected for GSoC.
  6. The coding culture is at par with IIIT Hyderabad and top IITs. DAIICT students go on to become ACM ICPC finalists. The environment is perfect for competitive coding, and the students are doing really well on popular competitive coding platforms like Hackerrank.
  7. The clubs and societies of DAIICT are very active. There is an IEEE Student branch, with IAS (Industry Applications Society) chapter.
  8. There are special interest groups for machine learning, mobile apps, artificial intelligence, etc. There are technical clubs like Programming club, Google Developers Group, Microsoft Students Technical Club, Webkit, etc.
  9. Some of the non technical clubs are- the Debate club, the Press club, the Dance club, the Music club, and more.
  10. The SBG-Student Body Government is a mediator between the administration and the student community. The seniors of SBG are very friendly and helpful. They can be approached with any problem.
  11.  Like SVNIT, the DAIICT campus is also ragging free and very safe for juniors.

I would recommend you opt for ICT at DAIICT Gandhinagar.

Which is the better option; doing computer engineering at SVNIT-Surat, Gujarat or b.tech in ict at DA-IICT Gandhinagar, Gujarat?

JS
Jatin Shaha Posted On : January 3rd, 2024
Lives in Surat

I am a resident of Surat, and SVNIT is very close to my house. During my college admissions, I was in the same dilemma. So I spent about a week at both the colleges to make a more informed choice.

One of the professors at SVNIT suggested that I opt for B.Tech ICT at DAIICT over Computer Engineering at SVNIT. He told me that DAIICT is a better option for computer related branches. Here are some pros of joining DAIICT as a B.Tech ICT student-

  1. The placements at DAIICT are comparatively better.
  2. Though the NITs have an established brand name, the reputation of DAIICT is better than SVNIT in top companies like Amazon, Morgan Stanley, MAQ, etc.
  3. It has a greater number of GSoC qualifiers, and a better environment for Open Source Coding.
  4. The environment is superior for competitive coding as well, and students participate in great numbers in online programming contests on platforms like codeforces, etc.
  5. A large number of students prepare for exams like GRE, CAT, etc.

Thus, a B.Tech ICT at DAIICT is better in comparison to Computer Engineering at SVNIT.

AR

lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

To get a medical fitness certificate for an MTech admission in IIT Dhanbad the following steps need to be followed:

  • Firstly, the medical certificate or Annexure-III should first be printed out from the IIT Dhanbad admissions booklet.
  • You must go to a neighboring government hospital or a licensed physician. If you see a general practitioner, he or she will offer you a prescription for the tests to be performed and may assign a nurse or another person.
  • The hospital will do all necessary tests and a thorough report will be written. We'll look at a number of things, including height, weight, chest size (both before and after enlargement), and the eye. The X-ray report, however, might take a few days to prepare out of all the results.
  • You must go to the hospital office after all the tests are finished so that your test report may be sealed. After that, the CMO will sign the reports, and the certificate will be issued. As required by law, you might need to pay a small fee. A receipt for the payment will be provided.

So, it is nothing to get worried about, but you'll need it get it signed by the Govt Hospital CMO. It takes 2-3 days to complete this procedure but with the help of any reference, it could be done in one day only.
