Both the branches, whether CSE in IIEST Shibpur or ETCE in Jadavpur University is worth their name. Still, there are many factors regarding Rankings, Admission Process, Fees, Scholarships, and Placements that differentiates them.Jadavpur University acquires a spot as 17th college in BTech amongst 300 in India 2020.IIEST Shibpur, on the other hand, stands firm with 21st ranking amongst Engineering institutes, as per NIRF Ranking 2020.

ADMISSIONS:

Jadavpur University:

• To be eligible for the JU admission process, a student must have 10+2 with 45% and scores of WBJEE. Later, a counseling process takes place.
• 90% of seats at JU are for domicile General Category and 10% for all Indian students.
• The seat intake for ETCE students for UG is 64 whereas, for PG courses, it is 28.

IIEST Shibpur:

• To be eligible, students must have their CBSE 10+2 scores with at least 45% and a minimum of 30% marks in English. The entrance exam for admissions is JEE Mains (Paper I). After selection, a student goes through JoSAA Counselling and CSAB Special Board.

Fees:

• The overall fees of BTech in JU is far less in comparison to IIEST Shibpur. A student has to pay a minimum fee of INR 9,600 for the whole course whereas, a student from IIEST has to pay INR 1.37 lakhs per year.
• Apart from this, JU offers scholarships to meritorious students. A few are SN Scholarship and DAAD Scholarship.

Placements:

Jadavpur University:

• According to the latest data, there was a 100% placement rate from JU. The highest annual package was INR 58 lakhs.
• The total number of eligible students from ETCE was 55, and 51 got placements. The average annual package for ETCE was INR 9 lakhs, and the highest was INR 39 lakhs.
• These students got into software and core companies. The top recruiters were Amazon, Synopsis, TATA Consultancy Services, HPCL, and Goldman Sachs. Some students even went for higher studies from this branch into IITs, IIMs, etc.

IIEST Shibpur:

• A drop in placements is visible from the past consecutive years in IIEST Shibpur. In 2017 it was 85.71%, 81.82% in 2018 and 72% in 2019.
• The average annual package of a CSE student is INR 9 lakh while the highest package was 39.12 lakhs.
• 90 reputed companies came for final placement and made 462 offers.
• Some of thetop recruiters were Cognizant, Infinity Infosys Parks, Capgemini, etc.

Looking into the above factors, ETCE from JU proves to be a better option than CSE in IIEST Shibpur in rankings, fees, placements criteria.

Computer Science & Technology is a stream that has continuously upgraded its placements year after year making it more preferable be it in undergraduate courses or post-graduate ones.

The highlights regarding the placements are given below:

• The total number of offered witnesses by the CST department was close to 105.
• Computer Science & Technology is one of the departments offering 100%placement.
• NIRF has also accredited that IIEST has the highest package after IIT Kharagpur in West Bengal.
• The institute offers good foreign internships in Human-Computer Interaction Institute, Mc. Gill University Canada, Technical University Of Dresden Germany, University Of Passau Germany, Linux Foundation and National Health Services (NHS).

The placement is therefore at par with the fees taken by the college and it also guarantees a good position in top multinational firms across the globe. The highest & average packages are decent enough in the respective stream.

These three NITs are oldest and top notch, on the basis of NIRF rank NIT Rourkela is place in top 19 position but in another way NIT Allahabad (MNNIT) is the 1st NIT in India which offer engineering program in computer science so their alumni strength much higher than other NITs.

MNNIT has excellent faculty members as compared to NIT Rourkela (22 faculties) and NIT Durgapur (15- 20 faculties) which are about 30 teaching staffs having experience in various fields of computer science.

MNNIT and NIT Raurkela are providing the average salary of 15.1 LPA whereas the recruiters at NIT Durgapur are offering an average salary package of about 9.09 LPA. So this means the MNNIT and NIT Raurkela at the placement level are better than NIT Durgapur.

NIT Kurushetra and PEC both the institute are well-reputed and offer good CSE programs with Decent placements. NIRF has ranked NIT Kurukshetra at 40 and PEC at 68 among top B.Tech colleges.

NIT KKR has a great coding culture. Students participate in many competitive coding contests like CodeChef, Codeforces, Hackerrank, etc. The final year students also take competitive programming classes. Some of the students of this NIT also joined Google as software engineers or interns. Although improving the coding culture at PEC is not as developed.

PDPU ranks 55th in the engineering category according to NIRF. While Charusat ranks in the 150-200 band.

PDPU

• CSE course students bag internship offers at Infosys, Reliance and TCS. 
• The selection rate over here is as high as 35%.

• The major recruiters are TCS, Byjus, Einfochips, Thomas Reuters and Infosys amongst 20 others. 
• The domains in which the placements are offered are Big data developing, backend developing, programming and project manager, analyst.

PDPU

• TCS, IBM, ONGC, Airtel and Infosys are top recruiters of the university.
• Job roles like Backend developer, Product Manager and Program developer are available to the students.

Students should make a choice on the basis of their interests and after properly analysing the pros and cons of each college. Both these institutes aim at providing the best quality education and curate innovative minds.

The top four IIITs in the country are – IIIT Hyderabad; IIIT Bangalore; IIIT Delhi; and IIIT Allahabad

If you get CS in any of the above-mentioned IIITs, just go for it The next two top IIITs are IIIT Gwalior and IIITDM Jabalpur. But there is a huge gap between these two. You may consider these two as well over NIT Goa. But then it is tricky and it should be left on your preference.

Generally, if you go to any NIT, then the topmost paying salary jobs are usually taken up by the CS guys of that college. So you will get a very good placement opportunity at NIT Goa as well if you get CS. If you are getting any other IIIT other than the top 6, then I would suggest you stick with NIT Goa.

NIT Warangal, was amongst the first 10 NITs to be established, ranks 19th for engineering by NIRF while IIT Hyderabad is ranked 17rd by NIRF. Both these institutes are centres of excellence in academics and have cut-throat competition.

Campus

• NIT Warangal: Tie-up with TCS, CPRI, Siemens to provide industrial training to students. The Teaching-Learning Programme, helps in development for both students and faculty.
• IIT Hyderabad: It has technology incubators in collaboration with universities from across the globe to help innovative ideas come to the fore and succeed.

IIT Hyderabad-

• The overall placement rate of the institute was 95%
• Major recruiters were Bank Of America, DRDO, Flipkart, HSBC, among 20 others
• Highest CTC of 42 lpa
• Average CTC of 16 LPA

It is very tough to distinguish between these colleges as these are premier institutes of the nation. Infrastructurally they are almost at par with all facilities available. Faculties are highly qualified, few being involved in many government funded research projects. Hence, it is up to the student to choose a given course in a particular college.
