How do I get 30+ LPA package from NIT Jamshedpur in the computer science branch?

GG
Gargi Gupta Posted On : September 6th, 2023
Studied at NIT Jamshedpur

It’s not likely possible to get a 30+ LPA package at NIT Jamshedpur or in fact any IIT. So if you have such a high goal, you can go for an offshore offer, which can go even up to 75+ LPA depending on where you get the job. Here are some ways to opt for an offshore offer

  • Google APAC test : The Google APAC test is conducted in 4 rounds every year. If you clear their interview, you can work at the Google MTV office. Another way to grab the interview is to get good scores in Google Code Jam
  • Facebook HackerCup : It’s a programming contest conducted by Facebook. If you score high, you are likely to be called for an interview.
  • Works Applications : They hold several online programming contests for students from IITs, IIITs, NITs, BITS, UOH, JNTU, and other less popular institutes. If you perform well, you get to work at their Singapore office.
  • HackerEarth, HackerRank : Some companies use this platform for recruitment. If you top in their contests, you can land interviews

So what’s stopping you from getting a 30+ LPA package at NIT Jamshedpur?

Which is better, CSE at IIT Gandhinagar, Bhubaneswar or Ropar?

TB
Tathagata Banerjee Posted On : April 11th, 2022
B.Tech Computer Science, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (2020)

CSE at IIT Gandhinagar is the best option among these because of the following reasons.

The course structure is flexible and there’s a wide range of electives on offer. As a CSE student, if you are interested in Robotics, you can study it. There are options to choose electives like Data Science, and Management as well.

The CSE branch has a great placement record. IIT Gandhinagar CSE average package is INR 18 LPA, as per the latest highlights. Other than placement, students also get good internship offers. Around 40% of students get international internships.

Should I opt for a minor degree in CSE or IT? I am an ECE major student at NIT Jalandhar.

AS
Abhineet Aryan Sharan Posted On : December 8th, 2022
Works at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur (IIITDMJ)

Every opportunity has its pros and cons both. Similarly, opting for a minor degree in CSE being an ECE major at NIT Jalandhar is both beneficial and difficult. It will increase your academic load. It may or may not help you get better placements.

My personal suggestion would be to give up on a minor degree in CSE and rather pursue additional courses like

  • Machine Learning/Networking(CCNA)

  • Cloud Computing(GCP/AWS)

  • Competitive Coding

These skills will add value to your CV and pay you back tenfold rather than the CSE minor degree.

Can we change branches from ECE to CSE in KLE Technological University?

SG
Sangita Giri Posted On : October 12th, 2020
B.E. from KLE Technological University Hubli (2020)

KLE Technology University is one of the best private colleges in Hubli. NIRF ranked it 151 in the category of best engineering colleges of India. It has a total of 3500 undergraduates and 120 postgraduate students. KLE offers 18 courses across 4 streams. It has a limited number of seats and a campus area of 64 acres. It is recognized by both UGC and AICTE and affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University. There is an intake of 1200 vacant seats in B. Tech.

For changing the branch at KLE Technological University, there are two options.

  • If you are allotted the ECE branch in first counselling, then you can apply for CSE in second or third counselling. If you have allotted ECE branch in second counselling, you can do the same procedure in the third round also. It is completely valid and acceptable to change the branches if you are not happy with the branch you have got.

  • If you are in the first year and you want to change the branch for any of the reasons, then you only have one chance and one way and that is to score good enough. Scoring more than 8.5 CGPA is the only way in which you can change your branch in the first year. There should be no backlogs in the first year if you want to change branches.

These are the only options through which one can appear for changing the branches. These procedures work only if there are vacant seats in the CSE branch.

What should I choose between VIIT Pune (IT) and PVG (CS)?

VT
Varsha Tomar Posted On : January 11th, 2021
Becoming E&TC engineer, at Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, Pune (2020)

VIIT should be the one to go for. First of all, it is an autonomous institute and has a good placement record in CS/IT branch and provides the best ROI, unlike PVG which is neither an autonomous institute nor has good placement. Both of them have minimum complimentary campus infrastructure.

VIIT falls under one of the emerging and best universities in Maharashtra i.e. Vishwakarma University. If we look at other parameters like Faculty, Placement, and Infrastructure, VIIT excels in all. It is improving at a good rate nowadays.

Here is the table comparing the placements of VIIT Pune & PVG.

Placement statistics for IT at VIIT Pune

Academic year

Placement per year

Number of companies visited

2017-18

216

175(>10 LPA)

2018-19

336

291(>6 LPA)

2019-2020

295

Placement statistics for CS at PVG

Academic year

Placement in CS branch out of 100 students

2017-18

55

2018-19

81

2019-20

63

Looking in terms of branches, the course might be different in both colleges because the specializations are different. The placement statistics are also different while other parameters are industry project remains the same or common.

Based on these factors, it is advisable to join VIIT for CS, IT, and E&TC rather than going for PVG.

Which is the best option for a CSE: the Acharya Institute of Technology, CMR or Dayanand Sagar?

AK
Aditya Kumar Posted On : September 25th, 2020
Studied Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Acharya Institute of Technology (Graduated 2020)

As the question is specific about the CSE branch, Acharya Institute of Technology ( AIT ) would be a better option compared to CMR University in regard to placements. AIT was established a lot earlier than CMR University and functions as an autonomous body, while AIT is affiliated to VTU and ACITE norms.

Affiliation:

  • Being a newly established and Autonomous institute CMR wouldn’t compete against AIT when it comes to placements and campus opportunities.

  • AIT is not the only college with VTU affiliation, but also the Dayanand Sagar Academy of Technology and Management (DSTAM). What makes DSTAM standout among these three is the number of placements it offers each year. With consistent placement records ever since its establishment, DSTAM has grown a lot during the past few years in terms of its reputation.

Admission:

  • To be eligible for admission to Acharya Institute of Technology, one must appear in CET conducted by the Institute. The final selection will be based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination.

  • Dayanand Sagar also conducts a Common Entrance Test for admission in B.E. programs. Students must have obtained at least 45% marks in their intermediate examination with PCM.

Placements:

  • The average package of AIT would hover around 3.2 LPA where DSTAM would go up to 3.5- 4 LPA.

  • Many top IT companies and few product-based software companies visit the DSTAM campus for recruitments each year.

  • Pre-final year students of the colleges receive a lot of support from Alumni network inform of internship and job offers in their startups.

Fee Structure:

  • Speaking of affordability both CMR and DSTAM cots much less than AIT, the former being just around 1 lakh per year, and the later is nearly 3 lakh per year.

  • The fee need to be paid for AIT for the four-year degree is almost 12 lakhs.

We can say that both AIT and DSTAM would be good and compelling options to opt for when looking for computer science admission. To add further the campus of DSTAM is right in the heart of the city.

So, to conclude if placements are of high priority ( which of course should be for CSE ), then Dayanand Sagar is a clear choice, but if the fee structure doesn’t match your comfort then AIT should be the immediate choice.

Which is better for CS: the NSIT or DTU?

PS
Pranjal Singh Posted On : April 8th, 2022
studied at University of Delhi

If you are looking for a better peer group, location, and placement opportunities, then NSIT CS will be a better option.

NSIT has a lower student intake. So, the competition is lower for placement and students get the required attention from faculties. For CS, NSIT placements are great. Each year, almost 80% of students get internships. NSIT CSE average package is around INR 12-15 LPA.
