I graduated in April 2022. Right after graduation, I started working as a Junior Resident in a government hospital in Delhi. My in-hand salary was 1.17 lakhs per month.

After a couple of months, I got selected as a Medical Officer under HCMS (Haryana Civil Medical Services). The salary in Haryana was slightly lower compared to Delhi. My current salary is 1 lakh 5 thousand, including allowances.

My basic pay in both jobs was 56k. In private hospitals, MBBS graduates earn around 40k. (Strictly talking about Delhi NCR; not sure about salaries in other states.)

AIIMS Delhi and UCMS Delhi both have their strengths, but AIIMS definitely stands out with its superior curriculum and faculty. At AIIMS, the clinical exposure starts early, and the learning environment is top-notch, making you feel well-prepared for your medical career. The internship stipend at AIIMS is also quite impressive at around 30,000, which is among the highest in the country. While UCMS has a solid reputation as well, AIIMS offers an unmatched campus life with extensive resources and activities that enhance the overall student experience. Personally, I would choose AIIMS Delhi for its comprehensive education and vibrant campus life; it's the best place for anyone dedicated to excelling in medicine.

At AIIMS, the medical internship starts in the 5th year and offers extensive clinical exposure with a stipend of around 30,000, which is among the highest in the country. The rigorous curriculum and access to top-notch faculty prepare you well for a successful career in medicine. In contrast, while Lady Hardinge Medical College provides solid training, it lacks the same level of clinical involvement and financial incentives during internships. If you're aiming for the best job prospects and a comprehensive learning experience, AIIMS Delhi is the better choice. However, if you're looking for a supportive environment and a strong community feel, Lady Hardinge may suit you better.

Firstly, I had the opportunity to join AIIMS, other than AIIMS Delhi, but I willingly surrendered my seat in a Peripheral AIIMS for obvious reasons. Just check the ranking of IMS-BHU (5th) in the list of Top Medical Colleges in India by NIRF. #No-Offence Secondly, although I felt disappointed about not getting into AIIMS Delhi, I never regret it, let alone the AIIMS Tag. Trust me, the BHU Tag carries much more weight. Thirdly, the only significant advantage of AIIMS was its funding. However, IMS-BHU is now funded equally as any other AIIMS, enjoying the distinction of an AIIMS-Like situation. Last but not least, I can't do justice to this question without mentioning: “MEDICAL COLLEGE IS BORING, IITians CAN ONLY HAVE LIFE!!” Life at IMS-BHU is much more entertaining, but you need to look beyond the books. To truly enjoy life, you must have real friends. It's not just the place, but the people around you that create your memories. Obviously, I have many, which you'll realize in the pics below. I've made memories that can't be summed up even in tonnes of words.

So, as you can see, studying at AIIMS is not very costly! It's just a nominal fee you need to pay. However, the main challenge is the tough admission process, with only a limited number of seats. You need to work very hard to secure a seat.
