Why do most toppers prefer IIT Bombay rather than other top IITs?

AT
Adwait Tejas Posted On : March 17th, 2023
studied Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2021)

Many people tend to emulate the actions of others without much thought or consideration, but you should not be one of them. Choosing IIT Bombay just because others are doing so may not be the best decision for you. However, if you want to join the best institute for your field of study, IIT Bombay is a great choice.

Earlier, students blindly used to follow others to join IIT Kanpur. But now, IIT Bombay is the preferred choice. This is because the best students prefer IIT Bombay over other IITs. As a result, the top companies also prefer to hire students from IIT Bombay, which further improves its statistics, making it even more attractive to the best students.

Apart from that, one of the reasons for choosing IIT Bombay is the presence of the best faculty. The best faculties are attracted more towards IIT Bombay (and then IIT Delhi) because these cities have the best urban infrastructure for their families and children. They also get more consulting and teaching assignments from outside, which enhances their income since the salaries of all IITs are the same. Most professors are reluctant to go to small cities like Kanpur or Kharagpur and prefer Delhi and Mumbai.

Therefore, if you are looking for the best institute for your field of study, and if you value the presence of the best faculty, then IIT Bombay would be an excellent choice for you.

SA
Subham Agarwal Posted On : March 24th, 2023
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad

While choosing a college for Computer Science, it's important to consider various factors such as the study environment, placements, and reputation of the institution. In the case of choosing between IT at IIIT Allahabad and CSE at the MNNIT, Allahabad, you should consider IIIT Allahabad.

  • Study Environment: IIIT Allahabad has a strong background in terms of study environment, with top-performing students in coding competitions such as CodeChef, HackerEarth, and HackerRank. Students at IIIT Allahabad start working on their projects in the second year of their studies, which provides them with hands-on experience in their field of study.
  • Placements: IIIT Allahabad has better placement opportunities compared to MNNIT. Top companies such as Google visit IIIT A for recruitment, while they may not visit MNNIT.

However, this does not mean that MNNIT is not a good college, but IIIT A is considered top-class for its placements.
