Tamil Nadu Open University, popularly known as TNOU, has opened the applications for the B.Ed (Special Education) programme for the academic year 2026. Eligible candidates can apply online on February 11, 2026, through the official website tnouportal.in.
The medium of instruction for the B.Ed (Special Education) programme will be both Tamil and English, and a single common application form is applicable for candidates opting for either medium.

The B.Ed (Special Education) programme at the Tamil Nadu Open University is offered as a two-year and 2.5-year programme. For the 2026 admission cycle, the B.Ed (Special Education) programme will be provided in three different specialisations: Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), Hearing Impairment (HI), and Visual Impairment (VI).

To proceed with the Tamil Nadu Open University B.Ed (Special Education) application process, interested candidates must pay the application fee of INR 500, while candidates belonging to the SC/ST category have to pay the application fee of INR 250 in an online mode.
Candidates residing within the state of Tamil Nadu only are eligible to apply for B.Ed (Special Education). Admission to the B.Ed (Special Education) programme will be based on the score obtained in the online Entrance Examination conducted by TNOU.
Basic eligibility: Applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree with at least 50% marks, and final year students may also apply, with a bachelor's degree in engineering or technology with specialisation in science and mathematics, who must have at least 55% marks. TNOU B.Ed (Special Education) Admission Process
B.Ed (Special Education) admission counselling dates, along with the selection list, will be released through the TNOU website. After, the candidates have to bring the original documents required during the admission counselling.

- Permanent Community Certificate.
- In case of a person with a disability: UDID/Disability ID card and Affidavit for Unemployment to be produced for fee concession.
- In case of the parent of a child with a disability: UDID/Disability ID card of the child.
- Ex-servicemen Certificate.
- 10th, +2 / 3 year Diploma, D.Ed. in Special Education (VI/HI/ID), UG / PG
- Mark statements, Provisional / Convocation Certificates and other higher
- education qualification certificates.
- Certificates for Weightage Criteria (NCC/NSS/Sports, Disability related).
- Any other relevant document.
