Oriental University PhD Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Basic Academic Eligibility	Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in relevant disciplines: Engineering, Science, Management, Computer Application, Pharmacy, Humanities, Commerce, Education, or Law.
M.Phil. Pathway	Candidates who have cleared M.Phil. coursework with min. 55% marks (or UGC grade ‘B’) and successfully completed the M.Phil. degree.
Relaxation	5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%) for SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / Differently-Abled and other categories as per Commission norms.
Selection Criteria	Entrance Test (DET) conducted by the University + Research Interview/Viva.
Exemptions	Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET / JRF, CSIR-NET, GATE, GPAT, or SLET are exempt from the written entrance test but must attend the interview.
