New Delhi: Swansea University in the UK and the SIBM Pune are hosting a lecture series titled "The Digital Future for Business & Society: Emerging Perspectives on The Metaverse".
As per SIBM Pune and Swansea University, the goal of this lecture series is to examine the metaverse's potential for revolution and how it will affect every aspect of business and society.
Prof. Savvas Papagiannidis from Newcastle University Business School in the UK delivered the seventh session in this ongoing series. The renowned expert examined "Metaverse Retail: Opportunities and Challenges," providing light on a number of facets of this quickly developing digital space.
Prof. Savvas Papagiannidis holds the title of David Goldman Professor of Innovation & Enterprise at Newcastle University Business School. His study focuses on the different subdomains of electronic business and how digital technologies might change both organisations and societies. His research focuses more on how organisational strategies and business models are affected by e-business technologies, as well as how these are implemented in terms of functional innovations (particularly in e-marketing and e-commerce). In the context of many industries, his work places a heavy emphasis on innovation, the development of new value, and the exploitation of entrepreneurial prospects. He is particularly interested in the effects that the Internet and related technologies can have on people, in addition to the effects that they might have on businesses.
Professor Savvas Papagiannidis examined the metaverse's evolution and similarities to actual locations during the seminar. He emphasised the importance of retail purchases in the metaverse and looked at the effects this development will have on businesses and society at large.
The topic of taxes on money earned within the metaverse, ownership of user-created material, regulation of metaverse activities, and the urgent problem of gambling within this virtual world were also covered in the conversation.
One of the main themes of his talk was the contrast between the real world and the virtual world, particularly in the context of retail experiences. In addition to highlighting the importance of experience orientation in the metaverse, he stressed the change from a customer-focused strategy to a product-focused one. He also discussed the concept of co-creation in the metaverse and contrasted genuine and realistic encounters in this virtual world.
Additionally, Professor Papagiannidis discussed his thoughts on potential metaverse orientations and how they can affect online shopping and e-commerce.
The lecture highlighted the metaverse's revolutionary power and its potential to change the digital business landscape, generating discussions about the future of retail.
The attendees of the 7th Seminar in the 3rd Edition of the Seminar Series on "The Digital Future for Business & Society" gained insightful knowledge on how the metaverse is changing how the retail industry operates. The knowledge and thought leadership of Prof. Savvas Papagiannidis sparked important discussions on the potential and difficulties that await businesses and society in this digital age.
According to Prof. Ramakrishnan Raman, Director-SIBM Pune, as the lecture series goes on, it promises to further explore the varied aspects of the metaverse, fostering a deeper knowledge of its implications for many enterprises and society at large.
