As a part of this MoU, Punjab Engineering College and Cadence Design Systems (India) Pvt Ltd will launch a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) program in Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology).
New Delhi: Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cadence Design Systems, a global leader in electronic design automation (EDA) software, for advancing Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) training programs.
As per Punjab Engineering College, this strategic partnership with Cadence Design Systems will lead to the launch of a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) program in Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology).
The Memorandum of Understanding was officially signed by Professor Baldev Setia, Director of Punjab Engineering College and Cadence's Application Engineering Group Director, Vijayakumar C Patil.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Professor Arun Kr Singh, Head of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department, Dr Jyoti Kedia, BTech VLSI Coordinator, and various other faculty members from ECE Department.
Highlights of Punjab Engineering College's MoU with Cadence
Through this partnership, PEC and Cadence strive to collectively advance and broaden the understanding, capabilities, and proficiency within the ecosystem overall, with a specific focus on enriching the student's learning experience at PEC.
The collaboration emphasises aligning the PEC curriculum with industry challenges, offering internships to impart industry exposure to students, facilitating placements, and granting access to Cadence’s acclaimed online training resources.
Faculty Insights on the Collaborative Endeavours
According to the Director of PEC, Professor Baldev Setia, “This collaboration will bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that our graduates are well-prepared to meet the challenges of the ever-evolving semiconductor landscape”.
According to Jaswinder Ahuja, Corporate Vice President and India Managing Director, “Cadence has been closely involved in workforce development in India for the last 25 years. According to an article in the Economic Times, a report by the Semicon India Future Skills Talent Committee set up in August 2022 says that India will need 12 lakh workers in semiconductor-related industries by 2032. Initiatives such as this one will help train students in real-life projects and make them industry-ready. We are proud to collaborate with PEC for this MOU.”
