The Ministry of Education unveiled the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 rankings today, September 4, 2025, during a live event conducted at 11 am. In the Medical category, AIIMS, Delhi, retained its top position, followed by PGIMER, Chandigarh and CMC, Vellore.

In the Dental category, AIIMS, Delhi once again claimed the No. 1 spot, with Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai and Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, Delhi rounding out the top three.

Medical Colleges: Stability with Emerging Contenders

In the field of medical education, AIIMS Delhi has once again secured the top position in 2025, just like in 2024. Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research, Puducherry, went from 5th to 4th rank, while National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences, Bangalore, went from 4th to 7th rank.

King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, made a striking leap from 19th to 8th, entering the top 10. Some new entrants in the top 50 include B. J. Medical College, Ahmedabad, at 45th, and Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, Tamil Nadu, at 49th.

Dental Colleges: Consistent Leaders and Rising Institutions

In dental education, AIIMS Delhi debuts at the top spot in 2025, a position held by Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences in 2024. Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, went from 5th to 4th, while Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal, slipped from 2nd to 5th.

Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences, Rohtak, made a notable leap from 23rd to 12th, breaking into the upper ranks. Some new entrants in the top 40 include the Faculty of Dental Sciences, Institute of Medical Sciences, Varanasi, at 18th, and Government Dental College, Kozhikode, at 38th.
