MUHS recently declared a change in the exam schedule for medical students. Dr Sandeep Kadu, Controller of Examinations at MUHS, states that the decision was made to finish conducting all the exams within one month.

New Delhi: The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has recently announced changes to its exam schedule, raising concern among medical students. This decision led to widespread reactions from the student body and academic circles. The majority of the students are facing challenges in adapting to the revised timetable.
Details of the Schedule Change and Impact on Students
Many students are impacted by MUHS's revision of the exam dates for various medical courses. The newly imposed schedule has created administrative and educational difficulties. Students who were already preparing as per the old schedule, now have to deal with the strain of managing their calendars and study plans by the revised dates.
The student bodies are distressed over the abrupt shift in the exam timetable. Concerns over how this move may affect their preparation and overall performance have been voiced by numerous pupils. The new dates have disturbed their study schedules, making them more stressed and anxious. Students who booked their travel and lodging under the original timetable are now even more disgruntled.
Response from Student Bodies
The students’ organizations have raised concerns regarding the schedule change. They have demanded adequate notice and consideration of students' circumstances before implementing such significant changes. The student bodies have called for MUHS to provide additional support and resources to help students cope with the revised schedule. They have also requested the university to consider the impact on student's mental health and academic performance.
University's Justification
MUHS justified that the schedule change was for various administrative and logistical reasons. The university administration assured students that the decision was made with their best interests in mind, aiming to strengthen the examination process and ensure a smooth conduct of exams.
Dr Sandeep Kadu, controller of examinations at MUHS, said, "We have already explained in our circular forwarded to every medical college in India that no other health science university gives a one-day gap between exams. For practical examinations across Maharashtra, which involve around 50-60 thousand students, it requires at least one month. Theory exams, with at least 6-8 papers and a one-day gap, would take another 16-18 days. How can we finish conducting all the exams within one month, in line with the National Medical Commission's timeframe?"
