North Orissa University, Baripada, has opened applications for its full-time and part-time doctoral programmes for the academic year 2025 in the subjects prescribed by Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University. Online applications are being accepted through the official website, nou.nic.in, by January 15, 2026.

The application (SAMARTH) portal will be active till January 15, 2026 (11:55 PM) to accept applications. As of now, shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview dated on January 19, 2026.

North Orissa University PhD Eligibility Criteria

Admission to the Doctoral programme will be based on an entrance test, conducted by the institute, followed by an interview and a viva voce. Applicants are required to hold a postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks, while candidates qualified in the entrance test UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET, CEED, ICMR, ICSSR, ICAR, INSPIRE, GATE, etc.

However, 5% marks relaxation will be given to the candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/ Differently-Abled, and Economically Weaker section(EWS), other categories.

North Orissa University PhD Selection Criteria

Candidates must know that the selection will be based on the marks obtained for the Doctoral Interview and as per the available vacancy in each subject. Qualifying for the Doctoral Interview alone will not ensure admission for research; candidates are required to submit a broad outline of the proposed research work at the time of verification of original documents on the day of the interview.
