MDU Rohtak Signs MoU with IHM Pusa for Hospitality & Research in Line with NEP

IHM Pusa and MDU, Rohtak signed an MoU to collaborate in hospitality education and research in line with the National Education Policy. The ceremony took place at IHM Pusa, marking a significant milestone in their partnership. Check details below.

New Delhi: In accordance with the National Education Policy, the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering & Nutrition, Pusa – New Delhi (IHM Pusa) and Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, have come together through the signing of an MoU to establish a collaborative relationship in the realm of hospitality education and research.

The ceremony for the signing of the MoU was held at IHM Pusa, representing a noteworthy achievement in the ongoing partnership between these respected institutions. Commenting on the collaboration, a spokesperson from the university said that the partnership aims to introduce a "Value Added Course on “The Great Indian Cuisine'" to students from both IHM Pusa and MDU Rohtak.

It was mentioned that this specialized course would offer students practical experience and comprehensive knowledge of the diverse regional cuisines of India. The course would cover various aspects including cuisine and culinary delights from North, East, West, South, and Central India, encompassing the rich tapestry of the Great Indian Cuisine.

During the discussion, Prof. Rajbir Singh, the vice-chancellor of MDU Rohtak faculty, highlighted the significance of such partnerships in advancing academic excellence.

He expressed that this collaboration between two esteemed hospitality institutions in the country might be the first of its kind and is in alignment with the National Education Policy, as well as the vision of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the government, aiming to foster stronger connections between national institutions and universities to promote academic growth, skill development, and research advancement.

During the MoU signing ceremony, it was expressed by Prof. Gulshan Lal Taneja, Registrar of MDU, and Kamal Kant Pant, principal/secretary IHM Pusa, that they were delighted about the collaboration and highlighted its significance in promoting culinary skills and cultural exchange.

Prof. Ashish Dahiya, director of IHTM MDU, asserted that the "Value Added Course on 'The Great Indian Cuisine'" would be a one-week program comprising approximately forty hours of practical training.

He further added that the program would focus on different aspects of regional Indian cuisines. Kamal Kant Pant, the principal of IHM Pusa, stated that the signing of this MoU establishes a foundation for future collaborations between IHM Pusa and MDU Rohtak, encompassing areas of mutual interest such as faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, and industry partnerships.

Additionally, Prof. Sandeep Malik, the director of the Faculty Development Centre, and Prof. Rahul Rishi, the director of Startups, Incubation and Innovation at MU, was also present during the signing of the MoU.

About IHM Pusa and MDU Rohtak 

IHM Pusa, founded in 1962, is a prestigious hospitality institution in India under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. It offers high-quality hospitality education at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels.

On the other hand, Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, is a renowned state university established under the Haryana Act No. 25 of 1975, focusing on interdisciplinary higher education and research. MDU has consistently been ranked among the top 100 universities in India for the past 5 years according to the NIRF Ranking by the Government of India. It is also the number one state university in Haryana.
