Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) announced that 2,000 seats are expected to be reserved under the North Easter (NE) state quota for the NIT system and 740 seats will be allocated under the North East University of Technology (NEUT) category.
CSAB held a press conference in Kohima to promote JEE Main 2025 registrations for North Eastern students, offering reserved seats and dedicated support for entry to top engineering institutions in India. Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) also announced that 2,000 seats are expected to be reserved under the North Easter (NE) state quota for the NIT system.
With nearly 24,000 seats available across National Institutes of Technology (NITs) in India every year, the 2025 JEE Main session will see approximately 2,000 seats reserved specifically under the State Quota for the NIT system in the North Eastern states. Additionally, around 740 seats will be allocated under the North East University of Technology (NEUT) category.

Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, Chair, CSAB 2025, stated, “The students of Nagaland have showcased immense potential and remarkable talent across various fields of career. As the registration window for JEE Main is now open, I encourage all students from Nagaland to take advantage of the opportunity and register for the JEE Main 2025 Examination. With focused study, practice, and time management, students can perform well and succeed that will open doors to top institutions through the CSAB 2025 counseling process, helping them secure admission in preferred NIT+ system institutions, based on eligibility. CSAB 2025 team will provide guidance and support during each counseling round with a counseling center located at the state and a multilingual tele help desk located centrally.”

A solution to Challenges faced North-East Students
CSAB provides customized opportunities through specialized counseling rounds:
- CSAB-NEUT Round: Designates seats in AICTE - approved institutes across India for students from North-Eastern states and Union Territories with limited access to technical education.
- CSAB Special Round: Offers a second opportunity for candidates who were unable to secure a seat through JoSAA/ CSAB counseling, enabling them to gain admission to NIT+ institutions.
CSAB 2025 Boosts North-East Participation
The CSAB team wanted the support of local media in raising awareness and encouraging more students from Nagaland to appear for JEE Main 2025. CSAB 2025 is implementing the following key initiatives to enhance participation from North-Eastern states:
- Increasing Awareness & Participation: Educating students about JEE Main, reservation policies, and the benefits of the home state quota to ensure they make informed decisions.
- Expanding Media Outreach: Leveraging press releases, conferences, and media campaigns to highlight the registration process and the significance of JEE Main. A dedicated press conference will be held in Mizoram on February 14, 2025, to further these efforts.
Career opportunities for NIT+ graduates
The reservation of seats will help students from North Eastern states to study at prestigious institutions and build their careers. They can pursue careers as engineers, scientists, and researchers in renowned organizations like ISRO, DRDO, and BARC.
Students can also join the tech industry, with opportunities in software development, data science, and cybersecurity at leading companies such as Amazon, TCS, and Google. They can also explore roles in manufacturing, infrastructure, and energy, with opportunities at PSUs like Coal India and NTPC.
