IIT Mandi Catalyst to Host 7th Edition of Himalayan Startup Trek from September 29; Check Details Here

New Delhi: Catalyst of IIT Mandi is all set to host the 7th edition of Himalayan Startup Trek (HST) from September 29 to October 1, 2023. This event serves as a platform for startups, aspirants, and innovators to show their talents and top three winners receive a prize of INR 2 lakh each.

The HST of IIT Mandi focuses on three main themes. The first theme is “Human-Computer Interaction” (HCI), which focuses on developing solutions that will enhance human-computer interaction, ranging from AI-assisted decision-making to robotics for business excellence.

The HST's second theme is “Build for the Himalayas”, which focuses on encouraging the participants to address unique challenges faced in the Himalayan region such as road safety, agriculture, and rural growth through innovative ways of sustainable technology.

The third theme is “Environment and Sustainability”, where participants are encouraged to come up with eco-friendly solutions. This includes managing plastic waste and promoting climate-supportive agricultural practices.

Each theme offers a prize pool of up to INR 2 lakh for the top three startups, as well as provides incubation support, access to funding, and opportunities for piloting with the state government. 

Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi, also invited innovators to participate in the HST Startup Grand Challenge 2023 and showcase their transformative ideas to the students.

Director of Industries, Himachal Pradesh, Sh. Rakesh Kumar Prajapati stated that the HST contributes to nurturing the local startup ecosystem. IIT Mandi Catalyst empowers startups by providing mentorship and industry connections with the support of the Department of Science and Technology and the Himachal Pradesh State government.

The Department of Industries, Government of Himachal Pradesh, Fresenius Kabi Oncology Limited, Peak Venture, IIT Mandi iHub and HCI Foundation will sponsor the event. Nearly 1000 participants are expected to join the event, including founders, investors and officials.
