New Delhi: IIT Mandi recently partnered with the Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN) for a Skill Development Program in Machine Learning, geared towards getting more young people from Himachal Pradesh interested in the field. The training program took place from January 29 to February 29, 2024 and was attended by 54 students.
The Machine Learning skill development program was designed to impart extensive theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice with various aspects of machine learning. The program concluded with an event held at IIT Mandi, attended virtually and on-ground by dignitaries such as Managing Director of HPKVN Dandharva Rathore, State Coordinator of HPKVN Atul Karohta, and the Head of the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), Prof. Tushar Jain.
Machine Learning has widespread applications across diverse fields for students and industry professionals alike. Gandharva Rathore interacted with the students digitally and spoke about how prudent it was for programs such as the Machine Learning program to occur more regularly to equip the future workforce with the skills and knowledge necessary to make themselves relevant in the job market.
Prof. Tushar Jain spoke to the students, saying: “These one-month-long courses on machine learning along with Internet of Things (IoT) and Robotics…played a crucial role in enhancing the employability and economic prospects of these enthusiastic youths”. He also spoke about the importance of having an understanding of the new-age technologies that have led to the fourth Industrial Revolution, or Industry 4.0.
