New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has released its notification calling for applications for the courses that are provided in its Zanzibar campus. The campus is established by a partnership between the Government of India, Zanzibar, and IIT, Madras. New academic programs are to be offered in this campus from October 2023.

The academic program is a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science & AI or a two-year Master of Technology degree in Data Science & AI. Any student in India and even from other Nations may opt for this course in the Indian Institute of Technology Madras Zanzibar campus.

The following are other comprehensive curriculum provided by the campus apart from Data science and Artificial Intelligence-

1. Students shall have access to different miscellaneous opportunities in their study years,
2. Opportunity to study abroad,
3. Access to different semester exchange programs of different other universities of UK and Australia who are partners to IIT, Madras,
4. Apply for internships in different companies, and
5. Enjoy the IIT Madras’ innovation ecosystem on campus,
6. Get chance to interact with a global network of IITM alumni,
7. Meritorious students can have access to scholarship programs and financial assistance, and
8. Get access to the courses at the IIT Madras campus in Chennai, India.

IIT Madras Admission 2023: Important Dates 

Explaining the selection procedure, Prof. Preeti Aghalayam, who is the dean School of Engineering and Science and Director-in-charge of the IITM Zanzibar Campus, said that the selection of the candidates is based on a screening test of students in subjects like aptitude, maths, science, English, and thinking. They'll also be interviewed by teachers. 

Candidates who have finished their 12th grade, Form VI or any equivalent in the last three years can apply for the B.Sc program. And if they have completed 4 years Undergraduate in science or engineering major are eligible to apply for the 2-year M-tech program.
