The IIT Gandhinagar has launched A B.Tech program in the discipline of Artificial Intelligence.

IITGNew Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar has announced that it will launch a brand-new B.Tech curriculum in artificial intelligence (AI) at the start of the academic year 2023-2024. The goal of this programme is to provide the graduated students a strong basis on which to take on the major issues that mankind is currently facing.

A BTech-MTech Dual Degree in Mechanical Engineering will also be offered by the institute. With this, the Institute has increased the number of undergraduate course seats at IITGN by roughly 80. IITGN will host a virtual JEE Open House 2023 on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 (@iitgn.ac.in/openhouse/) for candidates who have passed the JEE (Advanced) 2023 exam.

Sessions with the Director, Deans of Academic and Student Affairs, and Heads of Counselling and Career Development Services will also be part of the Open House. It would be a fantastic chance for prospective students and their families to communicate digitally with IIT Gandhinagar's teachers, students, and alumni.

Students will gain knowledge of the philosophy of IIT Gandhinagar, the structure and vision of its avant-garde academic programmes, such as dual degree and double major programmes, as well as its tolerant approach to changing branches of study or entire programmes.

The discussion will also cover opportunities for undergraduate research, international internships, on-campus employment, future career development, and entrepreneurship, as well as the vibrant student life on campus that includes a number of extracurricular initiatives like brand-new, cutting-edge sports facilities and cultural events.

After attending this session, the prospective students would be able to choose their branches and university with knowledge. In addition, the Institute is rapidly enhancing its physical infrastructure, research and instructional facilities, and intellectual capital, according to Prof. Rajat Moona, director of IIT Gandhinagar.

This year, the undergraduate curriculum was updated to reflect the fast changing nature of technology. We will give students the ability to create systems that leverage data collecting and computation to address significant global concerns by introducing a BTech in AI.

This programme places an emphasis on building interdisciplinary subject expertise in addition to statistical and computational methods. In order to promote a diversified and collaborative environment in the domains of data sciences, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and applied mathematics, the Institute recently opened the "Gordhanbhai B Gelot Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

"The placement season for 2023 was successful, with a 16% increase in total recruiters from the previous year and a 26% increase in the average package offered. This shows the students' dedication and diligence as well as the institute's strong reputation.

IIT Gandhinagar's Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. Nithin George, provided additional details, stating that the institution "promotes critical thinking and an appreciation of the interdisciplinary character of knowledge".

It places a high importance on interdisciplinarity and flexibility while emphasising breadth and depth in the curriculum, which aids in students' overall growth. The distinctive foundation programme acts as a transition between the demanding JEE preparation process and students' academic careers at IIT Gandhinagar by fostering students' creativity, teamwork, communication, and ethical and social awareness.
