IISc Bangalore Launches 3 New B.Tech Programmes

The IISc Bangalore has announced the launch of three new B.Tech programmes for the academic year 2026–27. The newly introduced programmes include B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanics and Computing, and Materials Science & Engineering. These programmes will be offered along with the institute’s existing B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing programme.

According to the official admission notice, B.Tech admissions at IISc for the 2026–27 session will be conducted through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 counselling process. Candidates interested in these programmes must register and participate in JoSAA counselling through the official portal, as the institute will not accept separate applications for B.Tech admissions.

The institute stated that the newly introduced B.Tech programmes are designed to provide strong theoretical foundations combined with hands-on research exposure and industry-relevant skills. These programmes aim to prepare students for careers in advanced technology sectors, research organisations, and higher studies in specialised engineering fields.

To be eligible for admission, candidates must meet the criteria specified in the JoSAA business rules, which generally include qualification in the JEE Advanced examination along with meeting the required academic eligibility in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
