IIM Mumbai Records 33% Increase in BFSI Hiring; 502 Offers with ₹71.4 Lakh Highest Package

IIM Mumbai has closed its final placement season for the 2024-2026 batch, achieving a remarkable milestone with the highest domestic offer of ₹71.4 lakh per annum. Despite global economic shifts, IIM Mumbai saw 502 offers for its 505-student cohort, with three students opting out to launch their own startups.

Consulting emerged as the top recruiting sector, while the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) sector witnessed a massive 33% surge in hiring. The average CTC for the top 10% of the batch stood at an impressive ₹47.5 lakh, signaling strong industry confidence in IIM Mumbai’s talent. 

 We are observing a clear evolution in the industry's appraisal of management expertise, especially regarding BFSI and AI-centric positions. the 33% jump in BFSI recruitment confirms the strategic benefit of our Mumbai location and our rigorous curriculum in finance and data science. IIM Mumbai Placements 2026

The Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (formerly NITIE) has solidified its position as a premier management destination by successfully concluding its final placement process for the MBA Class of 2024-2026. The season was characterized by high-value offers, a surge in technology-driven roles, and an influx of first-time recruiters.

Sectoral Growth and Domain Leaders

Consulting remained the backbone of the recruitment drive, securing 123 offers. However, the standout performer was the BFSI sector, which grew by 33% year-on-year.

Other sectors showing robust momentum included:

• FMCG: Experienced a 24% increase in hiring.
• Logistics & Operations: Anchored by the specialized MBA-OSCM program, this sector saw significant growth.
• Emerging Roles: A decisive shift toward Product Management, AI transformation, and Analytics was noted.

Top Recruiters and New Partnerships

The campus hosted over 200 recruiters, including a substantial new cohort of first-time participants such as Nomura, African Industries, Bayer, and PolicyBazaar.

Marquee regular recruiters continued their long-standing association:

• Finance & Consulting: Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan Chase, Citi, Accenture Strategy, and PwC US Advisory.
• Tech & E-commerce: Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Flipkart.
• Conglomerates & FMCG: Reliance Industries, Tata Administrative Services (TAS), Hindustan Unilever (HUL), P&G, and ITC.

In a move that highlights the institute's evolving culture, 3 students from the 505-member cohort chose to forgo the placement process to pursue their own entrepreneurial ventures, underscoring the startup spirit flourishing within the campus. According to the institute, these results prove that IIM Mumbai graduates are no longer just managers; they are being hired as architects of transformation in an era defined by digital disruption and artificial intelligence.
