New Delhi: On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, 2023, IIM Jammu hosted an expert panel discussion on Recognising the Stages of Addiction: Early Intervention and Prevention Strategies.

The session was moderated by Dr. Niti Shekar, Assistant Professor, Business Policy, Strategy & Entrepreneurship, IIM Jammu, and featured Dr. Arati Chowdhary, Oral Physician and Dental Oncologist at SRJ CBCC Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Ms. Pallavi Singh, Programme Director, JK Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses, and Dr. Pawan Gupta, Director, Surgical Oncology, Max Healthcare.

The panel discussion gave attendees a thorough understanding of addiction and the skills they needed to see the warning signs early on. It went into depth about the value of early intervention and looked at practical preventative methods.

All of the panellists gave in-depth explanations of the harmful effects of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and other substances while also raising awareness among the students about how addiction can have detrimental effects. They also emphasised the part that individuals might play in preventing children from spreading information about the negative consequences of such items.

In order to raise youth awareness, they also emphasised the necessity of starting youth clubs and tobacco martials in society. The panellists presented an engaging discussion by using relevant examples from everyday life. The event was organised by Digi Health Club, a section of IIM Jammu's Student Affairs.

The "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan" (Drug-Free India Campaign) of the Indian government was the focus of the panel discussion, which aimed to increase awareness and achieve its objectives. Students from the Institute asked and answered questions after the seminar.
