IIM Calcutta, SoDT & Mission Samriddhi Collaborated for Design Thinking in Institutional Leadership

New Delhi: IIM Calcutta, the School of Design Thinking (SoDT), and Mission Samriddhi, a social impact platform dedicated to promoting the holistic development of rural India, have joined a tripartite collaboration to encourage design thinking for institutional leadership. 

As a part of this three-year agreement, IIM Calcutta will establish India's first-of-its-kind ‘Centre of Excellence for Design Thinking’ in its business school with SoDT and Mission Samriddhi. The center will focus on Design Thinking initiatives undertaken by IIM Calcutta and affiliated entities.

Key Highlights of IIM Calcutta, SoDT, and Mission Samriddhi Partnership

As a part of the three-year agreement, IIM Calcutta, SoDT, and Mission Samriddhi will take part in the below-mentioned initiatives:

• IIM Calcutta and SoDT will offer Design Thinking courses and interventions in various domains.
• The institutes will develop Design Thinking modules and tasks for academic and training programs.
• Workshops, forums, and seminars will be offered to promote Design Thinking.
• Collaborative research projects, community-impacting social initiatives, and affect studies will be initiated together with MS.
• SoDT will establish a Centre of Excellence at IIMC to promote Design Thinking.

Informing about the collaboration, Bhaskar Chakrabarti, Dean, IIM Calcutta said, “One of the biggest challenges in the implementation of policies is in effectively reaching the intended recipient. While there are a number of studies and research initiatives to understand this lacuna, one area that has not been considered is the 'human' element”.

“This is where Design Thinking plays a vital role, especially in our social outreach initiatives. I am very happy that IIM Calcutta, School of Design Thinking and Mission Samriddhi are coming together to study and drive initiatives towards effective outcomes keeping the stakeholders in the center”, he added.
