Admission to the PhD program at IIM Calcutta is based on valid CAT, GMAT, GATE, UGC-NET, JRF, and GRE scores, depending on the chosen specialization.

The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, has begun applications for its doctoral programs for the academic year 2026. Interested candidates must apply by January 30, 2026, at iimcal.ac.in. Interested aspirants must fulfill the eligibility criteria for the PhD program, which includes First Class Master’s or PG Diploma in any discipline and a 3-year Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks, or CA with a minimum of 50% or CS/CMA with a minimum of 55% marks, with a B.Com degree, or B.Tech degree with 6.5 CGPA.
IIM Calcutta PhD Admission Test
Interested candidates can apply for up to two specializations. Also, they must have appeared for the CAT 2025 exam or other approved exams for some specializations. The exam score must be valid on January 30, 2026.

Candidates can directly apply using the DP Online Application Process. If S/He holds an MBA/PGDM degree from any IIMs with a CGPA of 6 to 9 and above, they do not need to take any admission test. Candidates have to pay the application fee and meet the application deadlines. After submitting the application forms, candidates will follow the common admission procedure.
