Great Lakes Chennai received accreditation from the UK-based Association of MBAs (AMBA) in 2024 and worldwide South Asian Quality Systems (SAQS) accreditation in 2015.

New Delhi: As per the latest updates, the Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai has received accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
With this achievement, Great Lakes Chennai has joined the list of 10 B-schools in the country to have a 'double crown' of worldwide accreditations. A business school has a 'double crown' status if it holds any two of the three worldwide accreditations -- AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS.
In 2014, Great Lakes Chennai received accreditation from the UK-based Association of MBAs (AMBA). It gained worldwide South Asian Quality Systems (SAQS) accreditation in 2015, and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) approved its two-year PGDM program in 2017.
Faculty Opinions on AACSB Recognition
Expressing his gratitude, Great Lakes Institute of Management Dean, Suresh Ramanathan said “The AACSB accreditation is a recognition of the high standards that we have set over the years in delivering rigorous, innovative and industry-relevant content in the classroom and preparing world-class future-ready business talent”.
“The AACSB accreditation further reinforces our commitment to achieving world-class standards of scholarship and pedagogy with the aim of having a lasting impact on business as well as society”, he further added.
Adding to the statement, Great Lakes Institute of Management Chairman, Mohan Lakhamraju said “The AACSB accreditation is a further testament to our commitment to offering global quality education in India and further re-affirms our motto of ‘Global Mindset-Indian Roots. It is the result of continuous efforts of our fantastic team as well as constant support from our industry partners, students and alumni”.

Bala V Balachandran established the Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai in 2004. It has approximately 50 full-time faculty and over 150 visiting faculty from Yale University, Stanford University, and Harvard University's business schools.
