GGSIPU Introduces New Provision for Reservation for Single Girls Child During UG/PG Admission

New Delhi: The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has made special provisions under the GGSIP University Act, 1998. These steps are taken for girls and to aid in their higher education. The university, through this, has decided to reserve a supernumerary seat for a single girl child during the admission into UG/PG courses at GGSIPU for the academic year 2024-25.

GGSIPU New Provision Highlights

The UG and PG seats at the University are filled on a pan-India Basis, without any regional allocation (Delhi/outside Delhi). Apart from this reservation system, there will not be any caste based reservation of seats. Students eligible for reservation under this provision must apply in a fresh application which will be available soon at the official portal ipu.ac.in and ipu.admissions.nic.in.

Applicability and Objective of Reservation of Supernumerary Seat

The seat will be allotted based on the merit of the National Level Test/Common Entrance Test/Merit of Qualifying Examination. Prof Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor of GGSIPU, has announced this reservation. He further mentioned that the provision applies to female twins and girl children in the case of boy-girl twins.

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has initiated this to promote girls' higher education. One supernumerary seat was created for 'Single Girl Child' for each UG/PG program at the University School of Studies. The initiative will be effective from the academic session of 2024-25.

In a press release by the university, it stated that the move would help female students to get a seat and pursue higher studies. The decision is per the Government’s 'Girl Child Campaign'.
