GATE COAP 2026 Registration from March 27 @coap2026.iitr.ac.in; Check Counselling Process

GATE 2026 counselling through the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) will begin with registrations starting from March 27, 2026. Candidates who have qualified for GATE in 2026, 2025, or 2024 will be eligible to access the portal. The first round of COAP counselling is scheduled to commence on May 11, 2026. The process is being coordinated by IIT Roorkee, and candidates can register through the official website, coap2026.iitr.ac.in.

Meanwhile, several institutes, including IISc Bangalore and various IITs, have already opened their separate online application portals for M.Tech admissions. Candidates must apply individually on the respective institute websites in addition to registering on COAP. The GATE 2026 result was declared on March 19, and only qualified candidates will be allowed to participate in the counselling process and access admission offers.

Steps to Register for GATE COAP 2026

• Visit the official GATE website and download the GATE 2026 scorecard
• Log in using your enrolment ID and password to access the scorecard
• After downloading, visit the official GATE COAP 2026 portal
• Complete the registration process (no registration fee required)
• No documents need to be uploaded during COAP registration
• After registration, visit the respective IIT websites and apply separately for M.Tech admissions
• Candidates must register on COAP first to generate a COAP ID before applying to IITs or PSUs

GATE COAP 2026 Counselling Process

• The counselling will include 5 main rounds and 5 additional optional rounds
• Candidates will have the following options during each round:
  • Accept and Freeze
  • Retain and Wait
  • Reject and Wait
• Round 1 of counselling will begin on May 11, 2026
• Candidates should regularly check the official COAP portal for the complete counselling schedule and updates

GATE 2026 Scorecard Download Date

The GATE 2026 scorecard will be available for download from March 27, 2026, through the candidate login on the official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Candidates can download it free of cost till May 31, 2026. After this period, the scorecard can be accessed by paying a fee of INR 500 until December 31, 2026.
