Institute Of Law and Research

What are your key responsibilities towards the institute and students?

It's known to all that Law is a dynamic subject which keeps changing with time, introduction of technological advancement and new perspectives and making a teaching career in the field of Law requires one to be abreast with the latest changes. Hence, I always try to keep myself updated with the latest happenings of the outside world and also connect with eminent professors, jurists, judges and advocates so that I can deliver the best quality knowledge to students.

Apart from this, I am responsible for organizing events such as seminars, workshops, and court visits for our students. And being the Department Head, I always try to be there for my students whenever they need my help and support. Then I need to ensure that a healthy and peaceful relationship exists between faculty members and all so that our institution can achieve great heights.

Being the Assistant Professor at ILR, what is your philosophy of leadership?

I don't believe that a true leader is not the one who commands his subordinates, but the one who leads a team or task. Therefore, being the Head of the Law Department, I always provide such opportunities to my team which are aligned with their skills set or capabilities.

And I have also observed that our honorable Director Sir, Dr. Ravi Handa ji is the perfect example of a good leader. Because he always motivates us to do new things for students, learn new teaching techniques and do whatever is essential for our Institute and academic profession, whether it is paper publication or attending seminars, conferences, workshops and FDP etc.

How has Covid 19 impacted your institute and how it coped with the challenges?

We all know that Covid-19 has had a transformative impact on the education sector and it has actually revolutionized the way we imagine what a school can be. In other words, the pandemic has reshaped basic ideas about instructions, the role of technology in learning and human connections that holds the education sector together.

And if we look at the positive side, the use of technology for teaching has provided us with a wealth of online resources to improve student's overall learning experience. However, at the same time it has exacerbated social inequalities in the access to education and the most affected are those who have inadequate resources to join online classes.

How is your relationship with the students of your institute?

My relationship with the students of our institution is completely based on mutual respect and trust and some necessary boundaries have been defined by me. Also, I interact with them on a daily basis to know about their interest and passion along with problems they might be facing in academics, so that they feel heard, understood and supported. And this approach has helped me to provide them suitable learning opportunities and foster a positive environment on campus.

What are some of the greatest strengths of your college?

The main pillars of our college's greatest strengths are our honesty, integrity, commitment of providing good quality education to students, effective time management, openness, problem-solving approaches and ability of managing students. Apart from this, our dedicated team, who work day in and day out to bring the students to the same page and help them achieve their dream in the field of law, also makes us strong.

Any suggestions which you would like to give to the youths and ambitious students?

I would advise my dear students to remain focused and dedicated towards their life goals, be it their dream job or any other objective. This doesn't mean they should not have fun in life, but till the time a goal is not achieved, they should try to keep it aside. Also, don't get distracted from little disturbances in life, as social life is necessary but being a student, all your efforts should be towards improving your life and making a better future for yourself.
