CIPET Solan

Being a Faculty of the CIPET Baddi, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

Being a Faculty of CIPET Baddi, Solan my roles and responsibilities towards the students include planning and preparing appropriately the assigned courses and lectures, conducting assigned classes at the scheduled times, demonstrating competence in classroom instruction, implementing the designated curriculum completely and in due time and planning and implementing effective classroom management practices.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

Learning should be fun and exciting. Nobody wants to spend time in a classroom where lecturing and note-taking are the norms. Students love creative, engaging lessons that grab their attention and allow them to take ownership of the learning process. Students enjoy hands-on, kinesthetic learning activities where they can learn by doing. They are enthusiastic about technology-based lessons that are both theoretical & practical.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

CIPET course curriculum prioritizes student’s understanding of the concepts rather than mere learning. Rather than focusing on word-by-word learning, the teachers should ensure that the students actually know what the concept is.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain the necessary skills?

We try to get our students to be more engaged in the classroom. Engagement happens when students care about the material, feel welcome in the classroom, understand expectations, and have fun. Students are also more likely to achieve their learning goals. We craft lessons that will engage all students and get them ready and willing to learn the lessons.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges?

CIPET Students are engaged in the following club activities: Academic Activities like quiz bowl, debate, and sports programs, community activities including service or volunteering with local organizations and Personality Activities which emphasize to colleges who you are beyond your grades, test scores, and application. They make you a unique person who jumps off the page.

When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

My vision was to meet student needs by creating an educational environment in which students can attain a variety of goals, maintaining a high standard of integrity and performance leading to the achievement of academic and career goals, seeking input from all sectors of the college and the community, fostering a learning community in which the diverse values, goals, and learning styles of all students are recognized and supported and implementing cutting-edge technology that enhances instruction and prepares students for life-long success.

How does the department enhance the skills of the faculty and prepare them according to industry standards?

CIPET conducts many Faculty Development Programs for better improvement in teaching. Moreover, we believe our upgradation with time is very important for both students and teachers, so from time to time we adopt grading and implement it in our practice.

What do you see as the department’s/ college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

CIPET provides practical knowledge and skills in the field of petrochemicals so for that we have all the technical infrastructure to teach them and prepare them for work and also assist them with placements. Moreover, the petrochemical industry is growing day by day and therefore the opportunities for students are also growing in which they are able to shape their careers.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

CIPET students have a growing future and I always advise them to seek internship opportunities, learn practical skills about machines, and grow their skills and knowledge.
