You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with education?
Education is the most powerful tool for empowerment. It helps me keep up with the dynamic environment and realize my true potential. Education breeds and encourages me to develop critical skills such as creativity and logical thinking. Teaching my students and seeing them succeed are also key factors that keep me connected to teaching.
What are the factors that make Subjects of Sciences the best for the students to opt? What will you say the “best practices” in the course?
The science stream is filled with a plethora of careers, depending on the subject chosen. Each subject has opportunities filled with great learning and knowledge. Not only can students be doctors or engineers, but a vast scope is also available in research and development at institutions and industries. Contributing time to research benefits society and the nation. Students of science have an upper hand in being able to shift easily among career fields, unlike arts and commerce. The best practise is that students can choose a subject they have a great interest in and work rigorously on it.
What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students? How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?
A teacher is a counselor, facilitator, collaborator, motivator, and one of the biggest resources for students. They are role models to inspire the students and help them recognise and achieve their highest potential. The prime responsibilities are teaching and guiding students to possess self-control, self-discipline and responsibility.
When you came to the college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?
Teaching is my passion. When I joined, my vision was to share the best knowledge of my subject with the next generation so that they would be at the top of their career goals. I have managed to achieve a lot of success in this area. I promote healthy relationships with peers and quality thinking among students for the success of my institution.
How does the curriculum/ Extracurricular activities of your department and college ensure the best practice of the industry?
We have a lot of extra-curricular activities that provide a broad platform for students to apply academic skills in a real-world context. It helps them to expand their boundaries, learn life skills, be dedicated towards work and achieve personal growth and development.
How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?
The best way we teach our students to cope with competition is to work strategically. Take the time to figure out your goals and make the effort to achieve them. Once it is achieved, you will always be able to keep moving ahead. Learn from each failure and always keep an alternative plan as a backup.
What kind developments are happening in the world of sciences in world and India?
Technology-based research is on the rise in the world as well as in our country. India is the top exporter of IT products and has the third largest Pharma sector. We also have one of the fast-growing contract research segments in the world. India stands third globally in the number of peer-reviewed science and engineering publications.
Any suggestions you would like to provide to current youth and aspiring students?
Be attentive and work progressively for the industry you are passionate about. Consider and keep your mind on your interests and values with each step you take. Do not lose sight of your goal.
