Mrs. Maya Kulhalli is a pioneer in the industry with an experience of over 25 years in the education industry. She is associated with Jain College for almost 15 years and is its current Principal. A learned person, she has completed her post graduation with MCom, MBA and MPhil degrees. She is also pursuing her PhD currently.

Maya Kulhalli has held key positions such as Principal and Director of premier Institutes throughout her career. She is thrilled to be among the students and it keeps her connected to the education industry, she believes that students coming to the colleges are young and can be moulded into better human beings with the efforts of the faculty, management and the college community.

You have held key positions throughout your career, what are the points that keep you connected to the education sector?

I believe students are young and can be moulded accordingly and taught virtuous things. I have always been motivated by the fact that we can make a good society through our students. They can be trained to become respectable and responsible citizens of society who are able to contribute to the overall institute’s development and of the nation as well. 

What is the relationship between the student and faculty at Jain College like? How do you ensure that the best is given to the students?

In Jain College, Hubli, we have a balanced student and teacher ratio. Teachers are very interactive and allow their students to keep expressing their doubts. They will always receive answers. We encourage our students to get on the stage and learn public speaking. They get to share national news, sports news, and Sensex news is an extracurricular activity done outside of their syllabus of Karnataka University. This practice makes them bold, and they lose their stage shyness.

We also train students for soft skills and for placements. We have created training programs after which they can comfortably attend job interviews, clear them and get placed. We conduct a job fest every year on our campus for our students. It's not only the academics but we also provide a wide range of opportunities to the students. 

How does Jain College, Hubli ensures that the highest strata of education are kept in place and go hand in hand with the other colleges?

We are known for quality education and for imparting good values to our students. Our principles include inculcating human values, in the students. We sensitize them to society's needs through social events like visits to the orphanage to celebrate national festivals with children and visit old age homes. They are taught their duties towards the people of the society. This ensures personality development, which has an equal weightage alongside academics at Jain College. This helps create a larger impact at a broader level.

How do your students ensure at graduation they are leaving as better human beings? How do you think Jain College’s curriculum ensures the same? 

Every student who has contributed to any events in our college, or has been a part of the social activities conducted here, has left the campus as a better person. They are currently working in top positions at organizations and are excelling in their careers. They understand that being successful in their career means helping society back. When we connect back with our alumni and hear about their careers, they always make it a point to thank us. They recognize that we have laid the foundation of their life on which they have built and explored opportunities. 

How does Jain College, Hubli ensure placements are taken care of for the students of this college? How is the past and present performance ensure placement for the students?

When we have given out students the confidence to be bold and to speak to anyone sitting right in front of them, we are giving them wings. We are pioneers in academics by focusing on building their personalities. This way they are confident to handle any situation and challenge. The previous academic year we have had almost 30 companies visiting our campus. Students from our college and from across north Karnataka participated in the program. Jain College’s students received the most job offers. The college management is working tirelessly to ensure each and every deserving student lands the right job after his course completion. 

What are the USPs of your college? 

We are in a competitive environment but we still stand apart from any other college in this region, very important events like fest. We have been organizing an annual fest called Cavalcade for 11 years to give exposure to students on how to organize and conduct events. This makes us stand apart from other colleges. We are the only college that allows their students to handle the entire responsibility of the fest. Our students even organize and gather sponsorships for these events. They decide how and where to spend it responsibly. This is one of the major USP of our college.

What would be your words of wisdom to students who are fresh out of their school/PU and are all set and ready for college?

My dear students if you are looking for admission to BBA or BCom you can choose Jain College. We have a balance of academics and extra-curricular activities. We extend support for the dynamic personality development of our students, and also provide extensive scope in sports. There will also be chances to learn event management while at our college. Rest assured you will be geared for the best career ahead in life when you graduate from Jain College.
