Ms. Pooja Koiri has been working as the Academic Manager of Jettwings Institute of Aviation and Hospitality Management, Guwahati, Assam from July, 2023. She has a rich 5+ years of work experience in the teaching sector and front office and housekeeping. She has completed Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Hospitality Administration from IHM Kolkata and Masters of Hotel Administration in Hotel and Hospitality Administration from IHM Bengaluru as part of her education. Along with this, she is experienced in organizing brand building events and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

Also, she started her professional journey as an Industrial Trainee with The Oberoi Grand of Kolkata in 2014 and later on joined Institute of Hotel Management of Bangalore in 2017, post which she worked as a Front Office Faculty in Indian Institute of Hotel Management and Rooms Division Assistant Professor in University of Engineering and Management of Kolkata and Teaching Assistant at Institute of Hotel Management of Bangalore.

Being the Academic Manager of Jettwings, what are your key responsibilities towards the students? 

As the Academic Head of Jettwings Institute of Aviation and Hospitality Management, my key responsibility is to look after the overall personal and professional development of students and ensure that they get the finest quality education. Along with this, fostering and nurturing a supportive learning environment where students can learn, interact and grow and achieve their life goals by utilizing their full potential also comes under the scope of my accountabilities. 

What valuable advice would you like to share with the students for their prosperous career? 

I would like to suggest to my dear students and youths of our society to focus on regular learning and enhancing their skills and network with academically bright people. Also, make yourself adaptable to the changing environment and attend training programs to strengthen your soft communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills so that you can thrive in a dynamic and highly competitive job market. 

What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced? 

Our institution greatly emphasizes on experiential learning and for that we have collaborated with leading industries and academic institutions so that real world work exposure could be provided to students and they can be made industry ready on time. So, our strong relations with top-notch companies and colleges and our commitment to ensure a practical knowledge to ambitious students are the main pillars of our strength and resilience. 

How does the curriculum of your institute ensure the best practices of industries? 

For the purpose of keeping our curriculum industry relevant and providing a competitive edge to our students in other outer worlds, we regularly review and analyze the syllabus of various subjects and also consult with corporate experts and eminent academicians as and when needed.

With what vision the Jettwings Institute was founded and how are you trying to achieve the same objective?

When we established this wonderful institute, our vision was to create future-ready leaders who can positively impact society, and to turn our vision into reality, we always give our 100% on providing the holistic education, ethical to students and inculcating best ethical values in them by fostering the culture of collaboration and innovation. 

What challenges have you faced in uplifting the education quality of your institution? 

The prime challenges in front of us while we were uplifting the education quality of our college, was of correct resource allocation and curriculum development, but our sincere hard work and commitment have helped us to remove these hurdles in a very synchronized and smooth manner. 

Which extracurricular activities are organized by your college to enhance the skills of students?

Our college organizes a broad range of co-curricular activities and events such as seminars, workshops, guest lectures, industry-interaction sessions and industrial visits in collaboration with leading experts so that skills of students can be enhanced on time, they can be exposed to challenging environment and and they can showcase their unique talents to the outside world through a correct platform. Apart from this, hands-on learning sessions and industry-relevant projects are offered to students as and when needed. 

How do you prepare your students to deal with the outside competitive world?

For us, preparing our students for the cut-throat academic and industrial world is a priority, hence we provide personalized mentoring and career counseling sessions along with skill development programs to students from time to time. 

How does your college prepare its students for both placements and higher education?

We conduct placement and company specific training programs along with mock interviews and resume-building workshops etc. from time to time to make students placement ready. Along with this, guidance is offered to them by us in collaboration with reputed universities and colleges so that they can pursue higher studies.
