Alakshendra Swarup is the Chairman of Virendra Swarup Memorial Trust which owns numerous educational institutes across Uttar Pradesh. He is the Chairman of Dr. Virendra Swarup Memorial Trust Group of Institutions, Unnao, and Dr. Virendra Swarup College of Management Studies, Kanpur, and numerous schools in Kanpur District. He has a master’s from London School of London School of Economics and Political Science.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

The education sector plays a crucial role in shaping the aspirations of students during their formative years. In my view, it is one of the noblest professions, and I consider myself fortunate to have dedicated my entire professional career to this field. Educators bear the important responsibility of imparting knowledge and improving the quality of education provided to students. This responsibility serves as a constant source of motivation for my continued involvement in the education sector. We are entrusted with nurturing the future leaders of our nation in various fields, which significantly contributes to our country's growth. These factors, along with the opportunity to continually improve and make a positive impact, inspire me to strive for excellence in this field.

Another significant reason for my commitment to education is the desire to make a difference in the lives of as many students as possible. I derive immense satisfaction from witnessing my students gain employment and, in turn, contribute to the workforce and the overall prosperity of our society.

Being the Chairman of Virendra Swarup Memorial Trust, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

Our primary focus revolves around delivering high-quality academics. We believe that by offering top-tier education and enabling our students to excel academically, our institution's reputation naturally rises. Thus, our foremost objective is to provide students with exceptional academic facilities, encompassing both theoretical and practical aspects of their education. Simultaneously, we are dedicated to nurturing our students into skilled professionals with well-rounded skills.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practice of industry?

Within our curriculum, we employ a vital strategy known as the Industry-Institute tie-up. Our students have the opportunity to visit various pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical industries, such as Amul, that produce a wide range of materials, including packaging materials, raw materials, and finished products. To facilitate this, we maintain a dedicated cell within our institute to manage these Industry-Institute partnerships in various pharmaceutical fields, both clinical and industry-oriented. Through these collaborations, we provide our students with hands-on experience, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the latest industry standards upon completing their studies at our college.

What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

Our institution has already established admission prerequisites for engineering programs, which mandate that students from the science stream, who have completed their intermediate education with coursework in either Mathematics or Biology, are eligible for consideration. Over the next decade to fifteen years, the field of engineering is poised for substantial growth. As the engineering profession continues to expand, future engineers are positioned to assume a pivotal role in our nation's progress.

Consequently, our institution is committed to enhancing the proficiency of our engineering students, equipping them with the necessary skills to explore a diverse range of opportunities upon graduation. These opportunities include securing positions with leading engineering firms, pursuing advanced educational paths, or engaging in roles such as quality assurance inspectors. In the forthcoming decade, our institution has strategic plans to increase student enrolment, thereby fostering the development of a larger pool of skilled engineering professionals.
