What keeps you connected with the education sector and how has your experience been so far with this institute?
The education sector is a very noble profession. You build the lives of students by motivating them, and you feel fulfilled knowing you've contributed to their growth. I have 20 years of experience, with a significant portion spent at this institute. When I see my students succeed in their careers, it brings me great satisfaction. Some students even come back and express gratitude, mentioning how what they learned in class has been beneficial in their field. This sense of satisfaction and impact on society is one of the key features of the education sector. Education has been a passion of mine since childhood, perhaps because it runs in the family. Despite having corporate experience and working in various industries, I find teaching in the classroom and guiding students towards their future very rewarding.
What are your opinions on effective leadership?
Leadership is about completing the tasks assigned to you by your team. In the process, you need to understand, listen to, and share their ideas and problems. By solving these issues, you ensure that the work is done efficiently. I regularly hold meetings where I listen to their ideas and work on their solutions, addressing their problems. This collaborative approach is a key factor in team success, and when the team succeeds, so does the leader. That's my approach to leadership.
What are your roles and responsibilities in this institute?
In this institute, I serve as the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and as the Head of the Entrepreneurship Cell. Electrical engineering is a branch that is quite versatile. Students in this field can work in various sectors, including industry production lines, research, audio, and even in the field of computers. Our institute offers a combined program in electrical and computer engineering, allowing students to explore both areas. In terms of entrepreneurship, I encourage students to consider options beyond traditional placements. We emphasize three main paths: placement, higher education, or entrepreneurship. My primary goal is to support all my electrical engineering students, with a particular focus on placements, as they are a priority for around 80% of our students. We tailor our curriculum to include labs that are relevant and needed in the industry, ensuring our students are well-prepared for their careers.

How does the curriculum of your institute ensure best practices?
We are affiliated with a university, so while some choices are determined by the university, there are mandatory subjects we have control over. Our curriculum is strong, particularly for establishing fundamentals. Additionally, we have incorporated elective theoretical and practical subjects within the electrical engineering domain. We have also established advanced laboratories such as the Electrical Vehicle Lab and the PLC STADA Lab, which align with industry standards and are highly demanded in the field. Moreover, we regularly host guest lectures, workshops, and seminars featuring industry professionals. Our students also have opportunities to visit industries, allowing them to stay updated on industry trends and acquire the necessary skills for placement or entrepreneurship endeavours.
What do you think is the greatest strength of this institute?
The greatest strength of our institute lies in the placement record, especially within my department. For the past three years, we have achieved a 100% placement rate for students opting for placements. I and my faculty members maintain strong connections with industry professionals, addressing their challenges through student projects. Our students excel in various projects, including hardware and simulation projects, which address contemporary issues. This prowess in project work is a significant asset for us. Another key strength is our emphasis on placement opportunities. By ensuring students have a strong foundation and engage in impactful projects, we facilitate their success in securing quality placements. Fundamentals are paramount in our teaching approach.
Any suggestions you want to provide to the current youth and aspiring students?
My suggestion to aspiring students is simple: don't shy away from hard work. Hard work is the cornerstone of a successful future. During the placement season, it's common for some students to secure lucrative packages while others may feel disheartened by comparison. However, if we look back over the past few years, we see that hard work pays off. Not everyone is naturally endowed with all the skills, intelligence, or answers to every question, but through hard work and continuous effort, one can achieve remarkable results. For today's youth, it's important not to underestimate the value of hard work. Additionally, they should be mindful of their usage of social media, as it can consume a significant amount of their time and distract them from their goals.
